AD&D 2E Changes to 2e from other editions?

Honestly, this is only my personal opinion, but... One thing I like about 2e's races is that humans are effectively neutral: no racial ability and all classes available. This is very useful because many times you just don't want that worry in your character: being a Paladin or Wizard is already...

AD&D 2E Variant Humans for Human Only or No Class Restriction Campaigns

My opinion: I both love and dislike the concept you presented. I’ll explain you why. First, I don’t think class-race-level restrictions are that much bad. The idea of every race being able to become any class, be a reasonable choice, and race choice still mattering is an illusion I lost quite...

AD&D 2E Changes to 2e from other editions?

Thinking a little more, there are some things which I would use from other editions: 4e's teleportation circles. D&D has underestimated teleport for far too long. I woule use a modified version of 4e's dying rules. Some classes. Especially 3e's Sorcerer, some psionic classes, Avenger and Warden...

AD&D 2E Changes to 2e from other editions?

Honestly, I like things like race/class restriction and level limits. Demi-classes are fine, but I still need to see all the complete books. Most of my changes will be about adding my personal touches: modern technology, gunblades, buster swords, Final Fantasy things are among the list. Changes...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard Energy

That is, in short words, why I prefer a classic Vancian/Gygaxian style of magic. I've already played with "Neo-Vancian", and the first was much better to my taste.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard Energy

Honestly, I face the problem in a different way: There is no such thing as "magical energy"; because magic doesn't obey any law of conservation. Moreover, magic is weird and has a lot of rules that no one quite understand their reasons, among others undiscovered. I'm playing 2e now, so I use...

    Braille for wizards

The Geometer is actually a good idea. The class has an ability that basically means: spells in your spellbook take much less space.

    Braille for wizards

Honestly, it's a variant spellbook with an added language. In RAW, there are simple rules for alternative spellbooks, for all kinds of books. Runes on clay tablets, markings on trees, a complex system of knots, the possibilities are limitless. The only problem is about portability. Medieval...

    Braille for wizards

In theory, yes; depends on the DM. It would be a big spellbook, though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Critical Fumbles a core rule?

Well, there is a clear difference between an official rule and an un-official rule: if things go wrong, in the second case you blame the DM; in the first, you blame the designer.

    D&D 5E (2014) Critical Fumbles a core rule?

Critical fumbles are, and always were, an optional rule. However, it is just so useful to mess up with players that most DMs I know use it, anyway. I see no value in them. There are already so many ways to challenge PCs that I don't see a reason to use it. Plus, it makes me look like a generous DM.

D&D 5E (2014) Discriminating Against Sameness: A Case for Readjusting Racial Bonuses and Ability Score Increases

Anti-tropes, in order to exist, need their original tropes. That's something a lot of "modern" RPG players forget.

D&D 5E (2014) Killing is Wrong: Adding Theme to a Campaign

Well, right where I live, if you want to be Mister Murder, you play GTA. RPG is for something else for us. Some things, however, may affect this in my case: 1) I’ve played with many groups where I live. Many players. However, many of them were novices to the game. 2) If I think it’s ever...

D&D 5E (2014) Killing is Wrong: Adding Theme to a Campaign

Well, this is my experience; I don't speak for anyone else. Now: In my hobby years, I found the "murderhobo" archetype to be plain false. In one case, one case only, there was a real murder by the PCs in the games I played/DM'd. It was a tense scene and the player wished to make his character...

    Making a gunslinger character

Hahahahahaha, well... 4e is very kind with crossbows. It gets worse because with one minor action you reload your crossbow to multiple attacks in the same power. Recharging crossbows at lightspeed. I could make guns overpowered depending on the tone I want. Providing magical protection...

    Making a gunslinger character

I think you didn't understand. When I created them, many players got interested in using them; but after knowing my guns are balanced against "normal" weapons (bows, crossbows, swords...), nearly all of them gave up and used bows or swords or whatever. I actually tried to make them more...

Pathfinder 2E complete book of elves 2nd edition

... The book is available as a pdf at DMsguild and DriveThruRPG. That would be the official art. If you meant conceptual art made before release or fan-made art, then I truly don't know.

    Making a gunslinger character

That's funny, because when I DM'ed 4e, I actually created guns for the game. Modern guns, that is. I would have to re-create them because they were too similar to already existing weapons, so no one was choosing them. They are meant to be balanced against pre-existing weapons by throwing realism...

    Gamers vs. Reality: Who Wins?

Ok… I'm talking mostly about my reality, but that’s all what I can do. About jobs: It’s amazing how many people, especially older people, expect us to get a decent job by the early 20s. It’s not possible. Not at all. By “not possible”, I mean most “jobs” college students get are either unpaid...

Do you prefer TTRPG combat as war or as sport?

Ok, there’re some things I consider wrong in this analysis: First, difficulty is not directly related to Combat-as-Sport. That is, Combat-as-Sport is not (necessarily) easy mode. Difficult fights can be common, and in fact, one difficult fight at least occasionally is expected: the most famous...
