D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] I Fought the Law and Won: The Rogue Guide

I see Skirmisher being useful if you are getting swarmed or getting attacked by an enemy with multiple attacks. Uncanny Dodge would be to mitigate that one big hit that is aimed at you.

    D&D 5E (2014) Why Good Players Do Not 14.25.

Don't even think about it lest ye risk summoning the ancient demonic spirit known as THAC0!!!

    D&D 5E (2014) Why Good Players Do Not 14.25.

None of my players use either of these Feats...in fact they have pretty much stayed clear of Feats in both Campaigns we play (meanwhile I wallow in them). As a partial experiment I threw a 6th Level Fighter-"Archer" at them with a few Ogres as fodder. Without Bless I was SHOCKED at the damage...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why Good Players Do Not 14.25.

Fighter gets a bonus ASI at 6th as well.

D&D 5E (2014) My group wants to access the cleric spells whenever the healer is absent from the session...

Our group has run into this issue as one of the players is taking college courses, so she has missed a few sessions due to needing to work to meet a deadline. Her character (in both campaigns) is a Sorcereress, so her missing has not been crucial. Our group's damage drops, but she is not the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Remove Curse & Lycanthropes

I like the creativity, but I think that by using Remove Curse in that situation it trivializes Lycanthropes. In fact I am not a fan of the Remove Curse spell period. I prefer curses to be serious things that require a quest to "fix", not just walking to your nearest 5th level Cleric for a single...

D&D 5E (2014) Ideas for a "fun" way to handle Darkness

Hey Guys! I'm looking for some feedback on some more exciting ways to handle combat and/or activity in pure Darkness (as per the spell). Currently, per rules, I am marking off the section of the map covered in Darkness. Anyone making an attack is at Disadvantage unless they have...

D&D 5E (2014) Why Good Rogues Should Not Use a Bow

One of the players who used to play in our group played a Rogue. She really did not want to get hit and used her bow for the majority of the time. It was great when it was a Surprise (she was an Assassin), but usually it was not much of a contribution. Granted, she was a new player, but she...

    Highest DPR at Level 1?

    Haha! Awesome, thanks! =D

    D&D 5E (2014) Character progression - need an advice

I don't know if you can do that though. The wording from Ready in the PHB makes it sound like you can't take any action if you plan to ready. This is a little more evident from the portion about movement and Readying where it says you can take your full movement as part of the Ready Action...

    Highest DPR at Level 1?

Gotcha. Also, what is BAA? (no sheep jokes please! =D )

    Highest DPR at Level 1?

I know this thread is about level 1 damage...but how can the War Cleric do that much damage?

    D&D 5E (2014) Character progression - need an advice

Yeah...its either a mistake or a homerule. Per the "Ready" rule in the PHB: So really, you should not be able to use other Actions during the round if you are Readying. For example, if you get Extra Attack from Bladesinger, you can't attack once then Ready the 2nd attack. It also eats up your...

    D&D 5E (2014) Character progression - need an advice

Which Archetype did you pick for your Rogue? If you did not go Arcane Trickster then you might ask your DM to switch over. This way you can add some caster levels to your spell slots. It won't give you access to higher level spells quicker, but it will give you access to higher level spell slots...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dumb orc Class?

Go Bard! Seriously, a dumb-as-a-rock giant half-orc Bard that sings and dances around. But with an Int of 2...how do you play THAT dumb? Edit: Just immediately remembered the mentally challenged Dwarf from Cleric Quintet named Pikel who was a Druid. Maybe something like that...

D&D 5E (2014) 5E skills and the Perception vs Stealth imbalance

If I am on guard and I spot something, be it a noise in the distance or seeing a threat (although being Human with a Campfire/Light Cantrip it would only be within 40ft), I raise the alarm to wake people up. While this does not provide the group with time to prepare, it does prevent the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bard/paladin: take 2 or 3 warlock levels?

My current character is a Cleric 1 / Fighter-Battlemaster 5, and he has a 17 in Str and 16 in Wis. I don't really feel hampered in any way. I've taken nothing but Feats so far, and if I take another Fighter level I will take another Feat. As previously mentioned, Feats are more fun than just...

Have a background...... what is my class? Thoughts?

Based on the story I would recommend: Bounty Hunter Background Ranger Class - Hunter Archetype If you really want Sorcerer though...then swap Ranger for Sorcerer. I wouldn't consider mixing those 2 classes though.

Fighter - > Eldritch Knight + Grappling focused?

Bard is such a good choice for so many things, arguably one of the most useful straight classes....and yet its biggest drawback is that its a Bard. =(

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Economy - Is this Correct?

What about this situation...A Fighter drops his Sword and uses his Action to unequip then drop his Shield. He then uses Action Surge, draws his bow, and fires off his arrow(s). Would that work out as correct action economy for 1 round?
