    D&D 5E (2014) Unarmed strike and gauntlets

I'm not aware of anything in 5th Edition. I seem to recall that 3.0/3.5 did have something for this, but I can remember if they were magical tattoo's or corded gauntlets (or if that's something I came up with in my own games for the Monk players). In a "legit" 5th Edition game, I don't think...

D&D 5E (2014) Adding a line to Dual Wielder feat...

To answer your question, no I don't think it would make the Feat OP. But as previously stated, it does mimic the Dual Wield Fighting Style. What I would *like* to see if the Dual Wielder Feat adding an extra off-hand attack if/when the player gets the ability "Extra Attack".

    D&D 5E (2014) New to 5E. Looking for advice on a Monk/Warlock build

Blade Ward has a casting time of 1 Action. So in order to cast that spell it needs to be your turn and you need to spend your Action to cast it. Every Round you get 1 Action, 1 Bonus Action, and 1 Reaction. You can cast Blade Ward or any Cantrip as much as you want, but unfortunately not when...

What multiclass builds would benefit the most from a Lore Bard 3 dip?

The Metamagic options are what make it interesting for sure. But Bard already gets access to some Cleric spells, and the option for a few more at higher levels. However, a 3 level dip for a full caster class into another full caster class might not be the most advantageous...you get the slots...

D&D 5E (2014) Need a better houserule to fix Bladesinger's mechanics not supporting lore issue

That's an interesting idea. I kind of like the concept of attaching the Bladesinger Archetype to the Bard Base-Class as opposed to Wizard. It actually hits a lot of the notes (pun intended) of the original Bladesinger that way, and bumps up from a d6 to a d8 in terms of HP which is a big deal...

D&D 5E (2014) How do you restrain a captured spellcaster?

This came up recently in my game when the PC's were jailed for their involvement in burning an old sage's home down. Basically the jailers asked the PC's which ones were spellcasters. The PC's were complying so they requested that the ones with spellcasting abilities wear these...

What multiclass builds would benefit the most from a Lore Bard 3 dip?

Bard is the only class I would not recommend a multi-class dip into. Its already a "multi-class" by nature in terms of skills, so I don't see its skillset strong enough to compliment another class's skillset. But if you are set on it, I would probably lean towards Rogue or Warlock depending on...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best 5e YouTubers

Haha, I am the same way. I get frustrated watching people play because ultimately I want to be at their table playing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Multiclass vs. hybrid subclasses

Here is where I stand on multiclassing...I have characters in mind, and usually leveling in a straight class does not fulfill that vision. One of the best things in 5th Edition has been the inclusion of Backgrounds in the character creation process which lets you round out your Skills, Tools...

    D&D 5E (2014) How should a Tanky Necromancer fight?

When I think of "Tanky Necromancer" I immediately think of Diablo 2. So with that in mind, I would say have your Necromancer start off with 1 level in Cleric as a Life, Death (if DM allows), or War domain (Life could work well thematically) so you can get Heavy Armor. Then go Wizard the rest of...

    Building an efficient Dual Wielder

Paladin is an interesting option, but my only concern is the limited resource in spell slots for the Divine Strikes. From a single-round Nova perspective it seems like a solid option though.

    Building an efficient Dual Wielder

The general sentiment I've gathered is that Dual-Wielding in 5th Edition is sub-optimal. This stems from the off-hand attack never actually increasing in frequency, and the lack of a Feat similar to Great Weapon Master. With that in mind, if you were building a character with the intention of...

    Conjuration Wizard 2/Thief Rogue 3

Its pretty hard to argue against the High Elf for the race like Ogre Mage suggested. The only other option I might suggest is Variant Human (for the Feat) or Lightfoot Halfling for the extra sneakiness. As for how to level, I would lean to starting with Rogue to 3, then dive into Wizard. Number...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best 5e YouTubers

I'll give Web DM a look then. =) Also, I do watch Dawnforged Cast from time to time. Usually whatever is being discussed is something I've seen on the forums here, but I appreciate how he talks through his thought process. Its the reason I direct newer players to some of his videos...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best 5e YouTubers

Nerdarchy is funny because I feel they are like 2 weeks behind topics that I read or participate on in this forum. I usually listen to part of an episode when I get home from work and am changing clothes. They can ramble a bit, and honestly do not seem very well prepared in any episode...

D&D 5E (2014) Need a better houserule to fix Bladesinger's mechanics not supporting lore issue

The key issue with Bladesingers from previous editions and the 5th Edition version is Bladesinger was basically reworked into Eldritch Knight. Bladesingers in previous editions were also Prestige Classes and not something you started out in. Their requirements encouraged a Fighter/Mage build...

D&D 5E (2014) To Screen or not to Screen

I use a DM screen. I *rarely* use it a reference though, I use it to obscure vision from my notes, books, and rolls. Since I do not use any Tablet or Laptop, I rely on my old traditional composition notebooks, graph paper, mini spiral notepad, and spiral notebook. So all my checks, monsters...

    Conjuration Wizard 2/Thief Rogue 3

So it really depends on what you want to do. Do you want to be slinging spells or landing those single target big hits?

D&D 5E (2014) How much would this character suck?

That is absolutely true if you're fine casting lower level spells using lower level spell slots. I have no experience with that high level of play, so I really can't offer anything except hypotheticals.

D&D 5E (2014) How much would this character suck?

Outside of flavor, the Rogue level is doing nothing for you. With Rogue 2 you could get Cunning Action which could give you a lot of mobility, so that would be better. But bets to scratch it completely. The main damage component for Rogue is Sneak Attack, and you won't be taking advantage of...
