    D&D 5E (2014) Darkness and Disengage

Well, the OP presented a tactic they thought should work; presumably it would be more fun for them if it did. Even though I'd be inclined to rule against the OP's tactic working as presented, I was positing a somewhat improved tactic that, it seems to me, has a pretty good argument behind it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Darkness and Disengage

I am a pretty fervent sauce-for-the-goose-sauce-for-the-gander type. So whichever way I decided, yes, I would apply to both PCs and NPCs.

    D&D 5E (2014) Darkness and Disengage

Sure, but you're bound to be less effective at guarding against a threat that not only can you not see, you don't have any idea where it is coming from. It's the same reasoning that leads to an unseen attacker having advantage - and that's just unseen. And just in case it's gotten lost - I...

D&D 5E (2014) [POLL] Too many concepts, not enough games!

I'm a little unclear what the difference between the last two choices is; the next-to-last seems to subsume the last.

    D&D 5E (2014) Darkness and Disengage

Well, the target can certainly try. The question is if they don't know where the potential attacker is, is that certain to be effective enough to grant immunity from OA? Consider that in the process of "backing away", the target could bump right into the potential attacker.

    D&D 5E (2014) Darkness and Disengage

Agreed, but that just begs the question in case the Warlock had cast Darkness on a prior turn, and so could move next to the target and Hide. Assuming the Warlock's Stealth roll was better than the target's passive Perception, could the target Disengage then? RAW seems to clearly be yes, but...

Ah, ok. I overlooked that possibility.

I still want someone to explain the perspective on the short pillars flanking the steps in the foreground. Just looking at them makes me dizzy.

D&D 5E (2014) Which Is Better: Regular or Alternate Cover Art For Theros?

Man, I'm glad this bothers someone else. A less frequent but more egregious fault is having the bow canted so that the arrow would be falling off the rest. And then there's the matter of the draw hand, wherein the nock, the bowstring, and the hand all converge on the same point and come...

D&D 5E (2014) Which Is Better: Regular or Alternate Cover Art For Theros?

I think the spear is supposed to be aimed at the head in the center of the picture; that head just doesn't 'pop out' enough to make it obvious. And then there's the severe perspective weirdness with the short pillars flanking the steps in the foreground. In general, it sort of looks like the...
