D&D 5E (2014) Three pillars: what is "exploration"?

The three pillars can be broken down pretty simply this way: Nonviolent interaction with NPCs, violent interaction with NPCs, and interaction with the environment.

    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade seems a bit powerful

Stacking two of the same spell does not cause the second instance to be "suppressed." Every duplicative instance of the spell remains 100% active, with the lone exception being that their effects do not combine. Having multiple instances of this spell end on a hit is simply not combining their...

Dealing with 7 strong party of new players!

Do like they did in Lord of the Flies. Give the players a conch shell, or any suitable token (a horn, a wand, etc.). If they want to speak to an NPC or otherwise take a turn, they take the conch. When someone else wants to take a turn, they pass the conch. This helps keep everyone from...

D&D 5E (2014) Involving players whose PCs have been killed/sidelined

I might let the dead PC act as a "voice from the heavens." While they can't influence the game world directly, they can still freely discuss the game and strategize with the other players. It can be fluffed as premonition, flashbacks, whichever.

    D&D 5E (2014) New Cantrip: Vengeful Blood

It has damage and a rider roughly equivalent with Shocking Grasp, but with an extended range. Even with the added range, I'd say this cantrip is in line with what other cantrips can do.

    D&D 5E (2014) Weapons Table

I think you might have responded to the wrong person by accident.

    D&D 5E (2014) Weapons Table

Weapons are already thematically diverse. There is a huge thematic difference between brandishing a rapier, a battleaxe, and a scythe. How does making their rules more fiddly make them more diverse?

    D&D 5E (2014) Weapons Table

Why not simply make all of the weapons do the same damage per size class and instead use feats or class features to enhance, alter, or add riders to weapon attacks?

    Shield as a weapon

I second the suggestion of letting a strike with a donned shield count as an unarmed strike; it is fundamentally similar to a punch with a gauntleted fist or a helmeted head-butt.

    D&D 5E (2014) OrcPub2: We've Come a Long Way

Within pages 121-141 is the rule on page 127 under the Customizing a Background heading in the Background section. "To customize a background, you can replace one feature with any other one, choose any two skills, and choose a total of two tool proficiencies or languages from the sample...

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd: Van Richten's Tower Trouble

How does Strahd know the mechanics of the tower collapse? Was he able to sneak a peak at the adventure rules?

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn inter-species breeding?

"Dragonborn cannot produce inter-species offspring. Also, maybe don't allow your players to make serial rapist PCs." - Dungeon Master's Guide, Pg. 238

    D&D 5E (2014) OrcPub2: We've Come a Long Way

I like the new character generator. That said, customized backgrounds are AL legal, but the program flags them as being illegal homebrew.

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D 5e] Level 1 Max Min Fun DPR and AC

You should consider making this character a High Elf instead. Then, you have more intelligence for improved lore checks and can do some fun stuff by taking the Prestidigitation cantrip.

    D&D 5E (2014) [Homebrew] − Elf Ability Scores

Or you could delete all of the racial stat bonuses and just give players a couple more points for their point buy.

    D&D 5E (2014) Burning doors with firebolt

I'm going to lump "Trying to burn down a dungeon door with Firebolt" together with "trying to cut a rope with a hammer."

    D&D 5E (2014) "even" dualclassing

Work with your DM to replace your class archetype's abilities with equivalently powered abilities from another base class. You could also try doing the same by trading your class' ability score increases for other class features. Yeah, I worked with that by having a Tempest cleric of Kord take...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why Greyhawk is Loved

I like Greyhawk in a general sense because, while I started playing D&D in 1e, 3e incorporated the Greyhawk pantheon as the game's default pantheon. I ended up getting used to that default pantheon and now use it in all of my games. My old Adventure League character has written in the Deity...

    D&D 5E (2014) New Spell: Blood Pulse

Why not simply change the mechanics of the spell so it more closely mirrors other spells? Make it so that the targets only take the damage either if they start their turn in the area/enter the area, or if they end their turn in the area. I'd lean to the latter. If you reduced the damage of the...
