News Digest: Starfinder Live Stream, New D&D Books, Acquisitions Inc for the Holidays, Green Ronin a

One small correction, likely due to auto-correct, but the Call of Cthulhu Kickstarter you mention should be The Star on the Shore. :) As always, thanks for the update - this weekly digest and the new products posts from AngusA help me keep up.

A Preview of Faerie Tales & Folklore, Old School Roleplaying of Historical Fantasy

Glad you are going to get it out there via OBS. I'll have to gauge my time closer to when you get ready to release a preview, but yeah, I would be interested in checking it out and critiquing it with my group. You might consider sending a note to Erik Tenkar of Tenkar's Tavern to let him know...

A Preview of Faerie Tales & Folklore, Old School Roleplaying of Historical Fantasy

Hi TildenThorne - I'm intrigued, especially as a huge Swords & Wizardry and swords & sorcery genre fan. Is this going to be self-published/small press or will it be a Kickstarter? I'll make sure to spread the word to the S&W groups on FB and G+.

Your Most Anticipated RPG Of 2017?

Morrus - Glad you mentioned DCC Lankhmar because I had left it off my list, along with Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea 2. For DCC Lankhmar, the Goodman Games announcement about it from Dec. 26, 2016 would be the best reference...

Have You played In An Official D&D Adventurer's League Event?

Not I. AL isn't for me. I'm really glad it has had a mostly positive impact and helped people find games, though.

D&D 5E (2014) I wish we could get more racial variety with Kobolds.

Nothing says that we can't have more racial variety with kobolds. Just because it isn't written in a book doesn't mean it can't happen. That is the cool thing about creating fantasy worlds - the architects and those that play in those worlds have carte blanche to make these kinds of things...

    D&D 5E (2014) CHALLENGE: Change one thing about 5e

Sorry, I was really tired and ended up blurring the lines between bardic inspiration and DM inspiration. I don't really like either mechanism, but DM inspiration is mostly what I was referring to. There are already enough ways for PCs to gain advantage and succeed in really difficult situations...

    D&D 5E (2014) CHALLENGE: Change one thing about 5e

Inspiration - not fixable, remove it. I do allow it in my game because my players wanted to keep it but I make them work for it in exchange. I give it out for really good RP, interesting and unique tactics and plans, exceptional use of their skills, and for really bad puns. I don't think the...

D&D 5E (2014) How reusable have you found the AP's?

I've not considered running any of them other than Strahd despite owning them all. I have Forgotten Realms Rage Disorder. I've used small pieces that were easy to move to my own world, though. I'm indifferent about getting good value out of them given that they are in a setting I hate but have...

D&D 5E (2014) Are Hardcover Books the Best Format for Settings?

I love my books too, and will keep buying the hardcovers, but I really do want digital copies of them also. Which is my biggest issue with 5e - no digital support. I've made up for that by using Fantasy Grounds for a lot of things but I would love to have all my setting material in Realm Works...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

Apparently this company is still trying to push Dragon Dice in 2016...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

The dearth of WotC official "general content" is being filled by some quality 3rd party publishers. It really is a shame that some are too close-minded to even give them a look since they are only depriving themselves of the benefit. So continue on the fanboi crusade for a WotC official stamp on...

News Digest: Tabletop is Back and How to Watch, Margaret Weis Retiring from RPGs, Big Personnel Shif

Hey Darryl, I think spellcheck might have changed the intended perennial to perineal in the blurb about Agricola. Pretty sure you didn't intend it to be described that way but it did bring a laugh. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

Gotcha - I've always lumped 3.0 and 3.5 into one big chunk, but it makes sense that when speaking of just WotC it would be 3.0e, 3.5e, and 4e. I would argue that TSR started the trend of splat this, splat that, splat for you, splat for me, etc. and that the approach for 3.0 was heavily...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

2E, 3xE and 4E all had rapid release schedules. There were quite a few splat books for 2E, such as the guides/kit books, etc.

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

What part of the character creation process are the struggling with? I'm asking because I'm curious - not trying to poke fun at them at all.

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

I can still find useful material in a setting specific general release book like SCAG and Volo's - and I freakin' HATE the Forgotten Realms (at least from 3E - present realms). It isn't hard to strip out setting specific stuff and adapt it to another setting. That kind of thing is happening for...
