Confirm or Deny: D&D4e would be going strong had it not been titled D&D

Likely because people did not pick up those settings and systems and then ran on assumptions.

As an '80s kid, I can't resist: Wuzzles, the RPG.

You Find a Clockwork Puzzle Box...

Pinhead or Wuya. Stay away from puzzle boxes in RPGs. Cenobites or Halyn. When you see a puzzle box in an RPG, destroy it.

Confirm or Deny: D&D4e would be going strong had it not been titled D&D

I stopped paying attention to this topic for quite a few pages. This seems like a good place to mention, that the Planescape setting, as of The Planewalker's Handbook, Belief Points were both introduced and given clear cut rules. Earning the points, setting difficulty of defending the beliefs...

Do you allow electronics at your gaming table?

This topic is clearly asking about physical tables. Next time please more attention to what the topic is actually about. Thank you.

What's the correct way to read a Percentage Dice? (d%)

Think of the zeros on tens d10s like the Ace in many card games. Most of the time the Ace is a 1, and when it's partnered with the right cards it becomes 11. Most of the time 00 is 0, when it's paired with 0, it's usually 100.

A "D&D" Comedy Movie Needs Your Help

So, "The Gamers", a decade later? I haven't followed the link yet.

    What is a Roleplaying Game?

Usually the only people who say things like "enter into a dialogue" are of certain persuasion we're not supposed to talk about, with a goal that we're also not supposed to talk about. While I have encountered people who use 15 words to say what could be said better in five, they are the...

    What is a Roleplaying Game?

I have difficulty believing people actually talked like that.

Confirm or Deny: D&D4e would be going strong had it not been titled D&D

Neither. There were some things in the pre-4e discussion I liked. A lot more I didn't. I know myself, and knew I would not enjoy it. When I actually saw the inside of a 4E Player's Handbook, I had issues with certain character abilities being called "Exploits". I remember when I first saw the...

    GM Problems: Table Space

From the previous page, I agree that BattleTop is awesome. It is sometimes inconvenient to carry to certain places, at least one of the legs inside mine is bent a lot, and the inner lining is coming off in places.

Game Systems that Allow Skill Resolution with No Roleplaying

I'm a fan of "things that would be obvious require no rolls". At the same time, I do prefer players at least tell me a little about what they're working on learning before rolling. It doesn't need to be full speech if the player is shy, it just needs to answer "what kind of answer are you...

    GM Problems: Table Space

I used to carry every Planescape source I had, whether I used them in game or not. While it probably helped me build up some muscle, it was not necessary.

Do you allow electronics at your gaming table?

I've also used electronics at the table as a player. As a player, they are a distraction to me. Using it as a GM means I don't have to find the pieces of paper that form my reference cards. I guess I'm more of an allow and discourage style guy.

    GM Problems: Table Space

I have a preference for systems where I can at least keep the basic rules in my head. That said, doing random treasure rolls before the game saves a lot of in game time. GM screens can save a lot of book flipping.

    How challenging should encounters be?

I don't want to breeze through a fight, I don't want to only hit on a natural high/low number, and I don't want it to take too long.

    Is D&D "Rubbish"?

SirAntoine, I have a small selection of favorite games/settings, probably in the 4-6 range. There is some crossover, especially when the system is the setting. The point I was raising is that me declaring a system "best" for everyone would be wrong.

    Is D&D "Rubbish"?

Longest lived does not mean best. It may be the best to you and I know many more games that I feel have more consistent mechanics, for starters. Are they better? To me, yes: the fewer rules I need to look up while playing or running the game, the better. Would I say they're the best overall? No...

Do you allow electronics at your gaming table?

This is good. But now you've just contradicted your apology for possibly reading too much into it. I refer to my books, dice, and accessories as "toys" as well. You don't like it? That's fine. If you're taking it as an insult, either to you or others, that's on you.
