D&D 5E (2014) Why so few magic polearms in the DMG?

It was a great source of hilarity :D

D&D General Order of ability scores

It's a fascinating question. And would it change anything if you renamed the abilites, without changina anything about how they work? Does... Strength Dexterity Constitution Intelligence Wisdom Charisma … feel like... Muscle Agility Vitality Intellect Wits Charm ?

D&D General No Fixed Location -- dynamically rearranging items, monsters, and other game elements in the interests of storytelling

I don't understand the distinction you're making. It sounds like you agree with me. In my opinion, with all due respect, pretending that something built by abstract concepts and human imagination and which has characters and, often enough, a plot, is not fiction, is simply abstruse.

D&D General No Fixed Location -- dynamically rearranging items, monsters, and other game elements in the interests of storytelling

There is no spoon. Fiction, by definition, is some and mirrors with a side dish of legerdemain. The treasure does not exist until the DM tells you that you've found something. I understand the point you're making, but in my opinion you're invested in a distinction that doesn't really exist.

D&D 5E (2014) Why so few magic polearms in the DMG?

In one of my campaigns, there was a mechanical, Steampunk-style +1 voulge which could fold itself into a cutlass… or a small chair.

    D&D General Background Vs. Backstory

In my opinion, if a character has no backstory at all, no past, no distinctive personality and he is just expected to die quickly in combat, I wouldn't call him a "character." It's a unit, a pawn.

    D&D 5E (2014) State of the mystic

I love the UA Mystic, it’s exactly what I’d want from a 5e version of the Psion. Even though it’s power level should be adjusted a little, it feels different and it plays differently than other casters, which, for me, is important. A Psion with standard spell slots is simply a Sorcerer.

D&D as humanocetric ... or not?

For me, it’s always been a workocracy. The more committed you are, the more time and efforts you put into the game, the more you get your way.

D&D as humanocetric ... or not?

I honestly don’t understand the "every game is Rifts" perspective. In my opinion, restricting the available options is the only way to properly set a tone, and if a DM does not want to have Gungans in their Lankhmar campaign, that’s their call and there’s nothing wrong with it.

D&D General No Fixed Location -- dynamically rearranging items, monsters, and other game elements in the interests of storytelling

I’ve been playing role-playing games for 35 years and the last time I’ve met someone who played in the style you’re describing was 29 years ago. I’m not even sure what Critical Role is. Again, there’s nothing wrong with your approach if that’s what you enjoy, but people who play differently are...

Only the Lonely: Why We Demand Official Product

Ironically, that's exactly what happens in Star Wars, a humanocentric saga where most main characters are humans, even though it takes place in a universe filled with thousands of different species.

Only the Lonely: Why We Demand Official Product

If you want a human-centric campaign, the only thing you have to do is to say "Hey, how about a human-centric campaign?"

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk, and race options for Oerth PCs

If someone has the final say, they're the one who will ultimately have to make a call about that kind of things. I love the way you think but I've never met a group where everyone agreed on everything and made every decision unanimously.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk, and race options for Oerth PCs

Should a DM allow a player to roll a Vulcan or a Hobbit character in a Star Wars game or should he have the right to say that it's outside the limits of what he envisions for the campaign? Ultimately, that's the question. In my opinion, the DM sets the tone and, within reasonable limits, he...

    I’ve already addressed that point.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk, and race options for Oerth PCs

Sorry, it was not meant to be a view of the setting. I meant it as an angle to differentiate Greyhawk from Forgotten Realms and Eberron. I could have written "Greyhawk is a high-level setting in a world of feudalism and cultural wars", though I like my first idea better. My point was that if you...

Only the Lonely: Why We Demand Official Product

But there's really nothing that needs restoring. You could pick the 3e Greyhawk Gazetteer and play right now without changing anything. If you want Greyhawk to be one of the official 5e settings, then you have to change it so that it fits a specific niche.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk, and race options for Oerth PCs

Whatever the history of the setting may be, I think that if someone were interested in a 5e version of Greyhawk, it wouldn't be a bad idea to reframe it a little, to focus on what makes it distinct from Forgotten Realms and Eberron. If you were to tell me "Well, Greyhawk is just another kitchen...

Only the Lonely: Why We Demand Official Product

Kender are just Hobbitses who have reasons to go adventuring, which is why a watered-down version of Kender has replaced a watered-down version of Hobbits as the official Halfling race.
