D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

WotC/Hasbro's goal is to make sure that, in the next couple of years, the D&D brand will generate more profit than it has during the last couple of years. They have decided that a light release schedule of RPG products is the way to achieve that. I'm not sure it will work, nor am I convinced...

D&D 5E (2014) What's PEACH have to do with Paladins?

I'd say that it's "pale plum"

    D&D 5E (2014) Low magic player characters in D&D 5e

There are only three classes that don't cast spells in 5e. It seems to me that it would require a lot more than just "tweaking" Of course I guess it depends on your definition of "low magic". Me, I'm thinking of something like The One Ring.

    D&D 5E (2014) Low magic player characters in D&D 5e

Is D&D really the best RPG system to run a low magic fantasy campaign?

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

Obviously. I'm not sure if it's such a bad thing for gamers, though.

    D&D 5E (2014) What is Missing from 5E?

Me too! But the reason it felt magical was that I was a child back then.

    D&D 5E (2014) What is Missing from 5E?

My bad. Thank you and sorry for the confusion.

    D&D 5E (2014) What is Missing from 5E?

Well, for one thing, magic is not literally gone from the game. There is a magic system, magic items, magic spells. Figuratively speaking, one of the goals of the designers was to make magic feel special again - magic items especially. So it's hard for me to understand where miniaturehoarder is...

D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on the Realms

The Realms are exactly what you expect: dwarves are dwarves, elves are elves, there are small villages surrounded by orcs, noble kings and brave knights, dungeons everywhere, etc. People keep saying that the history is dense and complex, and it's true, but FR's history is just a series of...

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I am arguing that. How easy would that be, really? Please try it. How could additional fantasy settings be defined as "bloat"?

    D&D 5E (2014) What is Missing from 5E?

What do you mean? I'm not sure I understand.

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

You've now stretched the definition of "bloat" so far that is has become synonymous with "rules." That's preposterous. One could imagine, for example, a whole book with nothing but new rules about ships, navigation, sea hazards and underwater magic and it would add nothing to the Dreaded Bloat...

    D&D 5E (2014) Semi-sandbox product I'd love to see

Wasn't there something like that in the 4e Forgotten Realms sourcebook? I seem to remember that the book started with a short adventure and the description of a small town.

D&D 5E (2014) Can you like both 5e and Pathfinder?

I'm sorry, me not native speaker, me may have unintentionally used wrong connotation or offensive terminology.

D&D 5E (2014) Can you like both 5e and Pathfinder?

Yes, you can love both of them, but they're very different beasts which may appeal to very different tasts, and hating one of them is a perfectly valid point of view.

D&D 5E (2014) How WotC will approach the campaign settings?

I think it's quite clear that WotC intends to focus on the Realms exclusively in their big campaigns. I don't think they will release any setting book for 5e.
  17. The Mirrorball Man

D&D 5E (2014) are spells Divine and Arcane anymore?

In my old campaign, arcane magic was illegal, while divine magic was highly encouraged.

    D&D 5E (2014) Something I find tacky

I see nothing wrong with that. In fact, I'd love it if I could buy something from WotC for DM appreciation month.
