D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I don't use any aggregator for that kind of thing and yes, if things go quiet on the WotC front, I will stop coming around here.

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I know what you want me to say, but I'm a journalist, and sorting out information is something I'm good at. But I can't focus on everything at the same time, and if I lose interest in something like D&D, I'm not very likely to hear about new releases.

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

As my attention slowly turns elsewhere, what I find disappointing is that, if WotC ends up releasing something that might interest me, I may not even be aware of it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Balance in Races

Really? Would you say that when people think about dragons, one of the first things that springs to mind is "creatures who can see in the dark"? I don't see how that's such an essential part of the creature's decription that it has to be included in Dragonborns' abilities.

    D&D 5E (2014) Balance in Races

Honestly, I'm not sure that Elves (except Drow) and Half-Orcs really need darkvision anyway.

    D&D 5E (2014) Balance in Races

True. Darkvision is the norm, and lack of darkvision seems to be mostly a human flaw.

    D&D 5E (2014) Indifying 5e

To what IPs? Barbarians? Wizards? Goblins? Dragons? Wisdom? Charisma? What?

    D&D 5E (2014) Indifying 5e

As far as I'm concerned, 13th Age IS D&D with an indie sensibility. It has everything you seen to be looking for, loads of narrative aspects and innovative mechanisms, it is balanced and it feels like D&D. In fact, it is D&D, with the same classes, the same races, the same characteristics and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Old Edition "Keepers" (Books)

I would add Top Ballista, Tall Tales of the Wee Folk and the Creature Catalog to the list.

D&D 5E (2014) Reasons Why My Interest in 5e is Waning

You're in a club and for some reason, the barman doesn't serve any drinks. People are complaining about it and you're all like "Dudes, just enjoy the music!" I can understand both point of views but even though a healthy flow of new sourcebooks is not required, it is expected by many people who...

D&D 5E (2014) Reasons Why My Interest in 5e is Waning

Enough with the condescension, please. I've written hundreds of adventures and I'm busy writing a RPG right now. I don't want D&D books because I need them or because I lack imagination or creativity. I want them because I enjoy D&D and I want more. It's really not that hard to understand.

D&D 5E (2014) Reasons Why My Interest in 5e is Waning

You are absolutely right in theory, but in practice, if we followed your argument, there would be no need for a fifth edition of D&D. We could still be playing AD&D 1e without any other sourcebook or additional material and we would enjoy it because we are gamers and we forge our own fun through...

D&D 5E (2014) Reasons Why My Interest in 5e is Waning

This is not actually connected to anything I've said, is it?

D&D 5E (2014) Reasons Why My Interest in 5e is Waning

I think it is somewhat puzzling yet admirable at the same time how so many of you hold on to this Zen-like belief that the less D&D products we get, the better the game is.

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

That's the hypothesis that's being tested. I guess we'll see in a couple of years if it worked.

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I don't know. What if they don't buy adventures?

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

How does that work? How does a light release schedule keep people interested in the game? Isn't it like saying that, had JK Rowling never released sequels to the original Harry Potter book, she could have kept people interested in that book and "giggle all the way to the bank"? Historically, RPG...

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

Nah, we don't even need them do we? All we need is our imagination, a piece of paper, possibly a pair of dice. Really we've been spoilt with what Hasbro has given us so far. When they started talking about a light release schedule I didn't expect them to release anything at all, and people who...

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

It's what Star Wars did with "Shadows of the Empire" IIRC. I think it was successful, at least from a commercial point of view.

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

For a whole year? Is the fact that I'm expecting slightly more than a couple of adventures so hard to believe?
