  1. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D General Transitioning Campaign Style

Some players cannot play in a player-driven campaign. They enjoy reacting to things, they don't mind getting railroaded a bit if it's not done too bluntly, and they get completely lost if you ask them to be proactive. I've never managed that kind of transition successfullly with my players.

    Where's the American Fantasy RPG?

Absolute nonsense. Mein Kampf is not a work of fiction, it doesn't have a huge literary tradition built by hundreds of writers through decades. In addition, equating a very racist novelist with the most evil dictator of all time doesn't make much sense.
  3. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D 5E (2014) Stance Based Alternate Monk

It's a good idea, it works with the theme and I think it's well designed.
  4. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D 5E (2014) The Maverick (Exploring Eberron)

It's only fine if the campaign doesn't stop abruptly when your Maverick reaches the 4th level or something.

    Where's the American Fantasy RPG?

The Cthulhu Mythos has been in the public domain for so long, and has produced so many different stories, that in my opinion it has become almost completely distinct from HP Lovecraft's oeuvre.
  6. The Mirrorball Man

D&D 5E (2014) Kate Welch on Leaving WotC

If anything, it's odd that they did not experiment a little bit more with the way adventures are written, presented and formatted.
  7. The Mirrorball Man

D&D 5E (2014) The Wagadu Chronicles: A free African Fantasy introductory setting, adventure, & bestiary

It's an interesting mix. It seems to be as much an african heroic fantasy as a celebration of social justice and minorities. It's not necessarily my cup of tea, but I bet it's going to be unique.
  8. The Mirrorball Man

D&D 5E (2014) Kate Welch on Leaving WotC

The game is called Dungeons & Dragons. In my opinion, if some people want to play Dragonmen and Dragonwomen, we should let them do it.
  9. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Gem Dragons Are Officially Back

Oh well. The Mystic class exists, and it is perfect for my needs. I don't need anything else, and certainly not "psionics as spells"
  10. The Mirrorball Man

D&D 5E (2014) Need Monster hybrid ideas, please help

In my 3.5e campaign, Gorcs were mentally unstable Orc-Goblin hybrids.

WotC New M:tG set announced: "Adventures in the Forgotten Realms"

Wouldn't it be nice if Magic: The Gathering had a D&D-inspired expansion?
  12. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D 5E (2014) DM Screen 'Wilderness Kit'

Yes, you can use the players' side to display information they may need and seem to forget from time to time, like the name of their characters or how to roll initiative.
  13. The Mirrorball Man

WotC New M:tG set announced: "Adventures in the Forgotten Realms"

I'm unfamiliar with the setting. What is it about?
  14. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D re-skinned as a Superhero game?

I think it would be much easier and more interesting to use the rules of a superhero RPG for a D&D-style fantasy campaign than to use D&D for a superhero campaign.
  15. The Mirrorball Man

D&D 5E (2014) Kate Welch on Leaving WotC

Whatever you do, the end result has to be fully compatible with 5e D&D. I think that's the line that shouldn't be crossed. Keep three or four classes and races, get rid of skills and backgrounds, keep a handful of spells, fully restore every character on a short rest, but don't touch anything...
  16. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythic Odysseys of Theros

True, but that won't magically lower the CR of the most dangerous monsters. That's a very good idea, but I wouldn't use it right of the bat. You have to establish the tone of the campaign first. If you put goblins in Theros right away, it becomes just another vanilla setting. That's...
  17. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythic Odysseys of Theros

Low-level Theros campaigns must be lethal.
  18. The Mirrorball Man

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythic Odysseys of Theros

Oh, thank you, that's perfect. I had never heard of kobaloi. And I guess something could be done with cercopes as well.
