[Adventure] Serpent's Skull: Souls for Smuggler's Shiv (DM: Mewness; Judge: THB)

Gathering reports from the various Irregulars, the Captain forms a rough plan. He sends out orders via the grigs. One lands on Takahaan's shoulder, and pipes up in his squeaky voice, "The Captain says you are to use your brawn to shift this log, soldier! Put it near these bushes so you can...

Which editions of D&D do you own the core books for?

Also, I...I sometimes bring my 1e DMG with me, regardless of what edition I'm DMing at the time. I don't reference it much(I don't reference any book much at the table), but I kinda put it on the table, like "This is my DMing security bla-er, street cred."

Clearly the Peryton is going to make a comeback.

Which editions of D&D do you own the core books for?

I've got the books for AD&D1&2e, 3.5, 4e and Essentials. Well, I think the essentials count, I have the Heroes of the Fallen Lands book and the Rules Compendium.

    Take the Narrative Wounding Challenge.

The troll grabs you and shakes you by the shoulder briefly before slamming you into the ground on your back with a loud thud. You lose consciousness.

I don't get the dislike of alignment as a character-building concept

I find that gaming, as a whole, works a lot like internet message boards. The most reasonable, polite people can always turn into jerks if you discuss religion or politics. Or their gaming equivalents, alignment and edition preference.

I don't get the dislike of alignment as a character-building concept

While not exactly a mechanical issue at that point, I think the cry of "Your character wouldn't do that!" has its roots quite clearly in the alignment mechanics. The 1e DMG is quite clear in the advice(which it goes on about for a page or so) that a DM should graph his players' alignments...

I don't get the dislike of healing surges

I think it's notable here that how a player reacts to such a situation is often quite different when he puts himself into it knowingly and willingly, rather than at the hands of the party, the Dm, or the dice.

    Occupy Renton!!!

Allow me to restate this, in the proper fashion. Too long have the bourgeois natural 20's kept our critical hits to themselves! It is time for us to stand up, my brethren, and take the crits back!

[Adventure] Serpent's Skull: Souls for Smuggler's Shiv (DM: Mewness; Judge: THB)

As the 'bait' get their performance underway, the Captain turns to Noriaki and Pezock. "Right then, time to do our share. I'll have you two take some of the troops to help scout out hiding places. Have them report to me what you find." At a quick gesture from their commanding officer...

What would you do during a Bad Guy Attack

I don't know about cube farms specifically, but most jobs I've ever worked in, if I was on the clock and got a chance to throw a chair at someone in a socially-acceptable fashion, I'd do it.

How do you usually play your character(s)?

Oh, and then there's Dwarf Fortress, where I generally go between "Evil" and "Really Evil".

Koukonsögur - Saga of the Trollfed Aerie - OOC

[Adventure] Little Workshop of Horrors (Judge: stonegod)

Canus gives a chuckle, and nudges Belanaar in the ribs, paying Moses no mind. "Who knew our little sister here was a thrill-seeker?"

I don't get the dislike of alignment as a character-building concept

Something about these lines: Makes me think that you aren't really making a distinction between Alignment: The Character Concept and Alignment: The Mechanics. I think it's a very important distinction to make, though, as the majority of anti-alignment complaints I've seen(and made) are...

I don't get the dislike of healing surges

I concede that you are correct about what happens when a PC is reduced to negative hit points. That situation, though, is specifically not what I have been discussing since I returned to this thread on page 35. In that post, and ones following, I have been arguing against the stance that...

I don't get the dislike of healing surges

I don't think that I am doing that. If you want to get wounded and not feel any penalties for it, because you are an awesome hero, that can achieved with HP, because HP is not about giving you penalties for wounds. I do not contest this idea. Second winds and surges can help this along, but...
