    Of all the complaints about 3.x systems... do you people actually allow this stuff ?

    Not really. I mean you could make that argument about the PHB1 martial classes. But the Essentials martial classes really had very little that wasn't an always on effect that modified a base attack. They're very much like prior edition Fighters and Thieves.

    Do you use Random Tables?

    There are some tables that I will treat as a List and thus pluck ideas from (like 100 random NPC traits/adventure seeds/dungeon dressing) but I can never imagine myself using one as a random table. I've always found random tables to be... uninteresting at best. Why? This is going to sound odd...

    Of all the complaints about 3.x systems... do you people actually allow this stuff ?

    Well 4e did manage to balance it with non-magical PCs. It's just that people dislike that they did so.

    The Lone Wolf and the Small Team

    I would like this to be taken into consideration as well. Although I've managed to do it with 4e.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Hybrid Races: Let's Make Them Actual Hybrids

    For the record I really like 4e Half-Elves as a race.

    Do you use Random Tables?

    I've seen them mentioned a lot in the 5e forums, and a lot elsewhere, and I'm curious about the prevalence of their use. Wandering monster tables, treasure tables, etc. By using a random table, I mean you roll and take the result.

    D&D 4E Hacking 4e - Do you hack? Why did you hack?

    D&D 5E (2014) Which version of D&D would you like 5E to resemble most? (poll version)

    Like others, I think it would be best if it was not mostly like anything else. That would be best for unification. But what I personally would prefer would be 4e and BECMI with a universal d20 mechanic. That's how I voted.

    4E Burnout - What to do next?

    I also hear good things about Swords and Wizardry, including character sheets that can fit on an index card.

    Of all the complaints about 3.x systems... do you people actually allow this stuff ?

    IMO, 3.5's Psion was a thing of beauty, with psionic spells well balanced and effective at the same time. I wish the psionics system had been the default Wizard. The wilder and soulknife were weak, but the Psychic Warrior made a really solid gish. (I also loved the Duskblade and Dread...

    4E Burnout - What to do next?

    You could always try Castles & Crusades, or Swords & Wizardry. Since you want that "old school" feel. I would avoid HERO if you want small amounts of prep. That system ate my soul. There are lots of ways to address the 4e problems. There have been many threads on the topic, so if you want to...

    Let's Forget the Forgotten Realms

    While I was introduced to fantasy novels via The Crystal Shard and read most of the FR novel lines, I never had much of an attachment to any setting. I enjoy Eberron a lot, but I'm far too in love with kitbashing elements from here and there, homebrewing things, etc. Personally I think all the...

    Of all the complaints about 3.x systems... do you people actually allow this stuff ?

    1) That doesn't address simple problems like Save or Die/Save or Suck. If your response to "He casts Hold Person" is "Well an enemy mage can cast that too", well great. But that means that it's mage on mage, and party fighter is left out. Or rather, he just winds up getting hit with various Save...

    Of all the complaints about 3.x systems... do you people actually allow this stuff ?

    OH yes I've seen the 20 minute adventuring day. I remember I joined a group playing a published adventure. They walked into the first room of a dungeon, killed two guards, and said, "WELP, I cast two spells. Let's rest." And the DM just shrugged and said, "OK." I wanted to tear my hair out...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Hybrid Races: Let's Make Them Actual Hybrids

    Since there's not an "Eh" vote, I am abstaining. :) But this feels like "a fix looking for a problem"; I've never seen anyone complain about this until now, nor do I feel compelled for it to "simulate hybridization". Also using this method I could make a PixieForged. Which hurts my head.

    Cleric = Druid = Wizard

    No, I'm talking that there is no difference in spell origin, no arcane/divine split. You simply have "Spells". So the same character could cast cure moderate wounds, fireball, and water walk.

    Cleric = Druid = Wizard

    Anything called "White Mage" would harken calls of videogamey. Also, if you're going to do that, why even bother with differentiating spell books/power sources/bla? Just have one big list of spells that everyone can pick from. The only reason why not is because a wizard casting heal spells...

    P1 - King of the Trollhaunt Warrens (Spoilers)

    Hey Infiniti2000 - Chris Perkins is redoing the entire Against the Giants series in Dungeon - starting with the levels 12-14 adventure Steading of the Hill Giant Chief. Granted, since it's being pieced out each month, you might not be able to tie everything like a bow off the bat (and I don't...

    DMG Content/Advice Wish List

    You seem to forget that the DMG isn't for just old timers who know how to GM. It's also for newbies who are just learning to game. As well as DMs who may know how to make NPCs but not know how to make the game fun, etc etc. Piecing it off to online articles means that the majority of people...
