    Unconverted D&D creatures

Thanks for the updates I just want to say that I really appreciate the updates to the first post in this thread (and the other threads). Looking at this stuff is like watching a D&D creature news feed showing the monsters rolling off of the production line.:D

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

I think I may have a way to deal with the aruchai after it has killed a victim and hopped to another plane. How about calling it a "feasted aruchai" (or something similar) and giving it a separate text block (like drow get in the elf monster manual entry). You could then say something along...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

FYI: ENWorld have added a forum folder into the URL so: http://www.enworld.org/showpost.php?p=4332432&postcount=391 Has become: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showpost.php?p=4332432&postcount=391 I'm not sure if this is a permanant thing - the links might work again at the end of the update. But...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

I've falled way behind on this thread too. I don't see anything I disagree with. I'm a little bit lost to be honest. Hopefully, I haven't missed anything. IIRC there is an ability (clerical) to dismiss outsiders back to their own plane. It feels like this is a parallel thing with the arucha...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

I'm liking where this is going, but am busy at the moment. I'll have a proper read through your stuff tommorrow (if ENWorld is still up). Otherwise have a nice weekend! :p

    Converting True Dragons

Its looking very good. Hmm. Giving it both or giving it a choice could be good. (i.e. it should either get greater dispel and antimagic field or greater dispel or antimagic field.) I thought that too! :D

    Converting monsters from Imagine Magazine

Hmmmm. Something has been bugging me about this creature since the begining. I've tried to argue a way to make this creature work, but I'm not happy with it. I think I finally realised why. I'm starting to think the turning thing is a bit of a dead end. Druids don't normally have turning power...

    Unconverted Mystara creatures

FYI: Help requested on Mystara forum Just to let you know, I've found another D&D community to try to enlist to one of your conversion efforts. This one is the Mystara forum at The Piazza. Following the merger of all of the OOP D&D forums, Vaults of Pandius have decided to make this their...

Converting original D&D and Mystara monsters

Thanks for the heads up. That is a big improvment. The encircle move seems more like a dance move than a brute force thing, so I'm onboard with Dex. I'm not sure about the +2 racial bonus, but will go with your judgement as I don't have a better idea.

I hate it when that sort of thing happens. You can rebuild a post or email, but it never seems to be as good the second time. So do we go with a standard aruchai that converts into the creature it killed after 24 hours? Should we drop the reference to it terrorising creatures on that plane...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off giants and their kin

I would guess they would have a natural colour (if scrubbed) but that would be burried under a layer of dirt. If these guys pick up dirt an small stones in their skin, wouldn't colour vary according to terrain they live in?

Converting Al-Qadim and Oriental Adventures creatures

I really like this. It is fairly similar to Stunning Fist, but I like that. You mention the two attacks, so did you intend for this ability to only kick in if both slam attacks hit? Or does the yau-mor get two chances to do Distrupting Attack per round? With two chances to do this per round and...

    Converting monsters from Imagine Magazine

I did also point out that plants can be turned: If you check out all the domain granted powers, they include six that replicate or alter the cleric's turning abilities: Air turns earth creatures, Earth turns air creatures, Fire turns water creatures and Water turns fire creatures. Sun does a...

    Unconverted Imagine creatures

Surely that will only happen with the Hollow World threads! ;) :D Maybe the thread title could get changed so that the word '[DONE]' is added to the begining. There are only about 4 of these creatures left, so I'm looking forward to this thread dropping off of the first page.

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

I can talk for England too! ;) Are we still going to keep the "the aruchai can't be killed" thing when it gets to the creatures home plane? That feels a bit wrong for 3rd edition. I'd rather we gave it a bonus for the 24 hours (before it changed into the form of the creature it killed) or...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

There are not really any clues. Even the special abilities don't seem to imply any special requirements for the stats. I can't even see anything like a THAC0, to tell us how good it is at hitting things with its "fingers". I started D&D during 2nd edition. Is this from a pre-THAC0 period? If...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

I agree with treating the parasites as part of the creature (even if they are actually separate creatures in a symbiotic relationship) as they don't seem to do anything except swim on the surface of the creature. How likely is it that a GM is going to want players to scrape these parasites off...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

Continued from last post... The Sivak Draconian (Dragonlance Campaign Setting p221-222 and Dragons of Krynn p87-89) can assume the form of its victims as a special ability. Here is the ability text from DLCS: BTW: The mistake in the first sentence is from DLCS and not a typo by me. Here...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

Continued from last post... Perhaps the mathematics could help us. The "more than half" thing implies that four aruchai can kill three orcs and (something) would hop to the Material Plane. If four (immortal) aruchai arrive on the Material Plane and turn into orcs they would be the original...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

Continued from last post... Here are the two bits I think are in conflict: This supports the original aruchai leaving limbo. This both supports and opposes the original aruchai leaving limbo. This opposes the original aruchai leaving limbo and supports the original creatures being sent...
