Sneak attacking undead and constructs seems wrong

One of my house rules for 5E is that Elementals and Oozes are immune to critical hits and sneak attack, due to their lack of a discernible anatomy or vulnerable points. I still allow crits and sneak attack for constructs because I figure that a clever rogue can find a weak joint or an exposed...

GMT+10ish Gamers Wanted! Online 5E Adventure

I am sorely tempted to try. I've got thousands of hours of GMing experience, so it will probably take me no more than a session to evaluate if you're a good GM or not; if you are, I'll try my best to stick to you like glue (I never get access to a good GM as a player), if not, I'll bow out...

The Forgotten Realms, ironically, are not the Realms which have been Forgotten.

Do we have a Greyhawk expert or at least veteran amongst us? I'm working towards a Greyhawk 5E campaign, and there is MUCH less available about the setting in wiki form than for some of the better known settings (Dragonlance has a GREAT wiki and I'm sure Faerun does too).

How often do you use the Inspiration rules?

Generally speaking, historically, ALL of my players have been DESPERATE for the agency of having points that allow them to reroll a bad roll a few times a session, so 5ekyu sounds like he (or she) is on a different planet from the one I've been gaming on. Generally speaking, D&D was a harder...

What Game Did You Leave D&D For?

EDIT: Man, I'm loving all the love I'm seeing for HERO System around here! I'm an odd duck: D&D was actually the LAST major RPG that I played. I had played maybe entire campaigns of Shadowrun, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Call of Cthulhu before I ever cracked open a Players' Handbook. I never...

D&D 5E (2014) What DM flaw has caused you to actually leave a game?

Please forgive me, it did not happen while playing D&D 5E or D&D period, but it's the only genuinely galling experience I've had with a GM (most are just kind of...mediocre), and I think it's a funny story, too. I did not walk away, but the most annoying thing a GM ever did to me was at a...

    Role-Players vs. Actors

A few things. My ex (who was consistently present at my games sessions far more than anyone else) had prior training in acting and was an excellent roleplayer. As for me, I have done so much roleplaying that I've come to be a pretty good actor, and I could probably take a stab at that as a...

What the heck is going on with the professional RPG industry in regards to Zak S?

okay really don't want to get into this miserable quagmire of a topic (not in the sense of "forum topic", in the sense of "topic of discussion") but here goes: * Zak S was a hero of mine. Now I'd be pleased if he accidentally tripped and fell into an industrial blender. I was one of Zak's fans...

The Forgotten Realms, ironically, are not the Realms which have been Forgotten.

I think I've just kind of fixated on the idea of an adventure where you go to the bottom of an (XYZ) level dungeon, at the dragon all the way at the bottom isn't the BOSS, he's the McGuffin.

The Forgotten Realms, ironically, are not the Realms which have been Forgotten.

Oh, absolutely. The first time I saw Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, my brain interpreted the title as it being a adventure revolving around you LITERALLY STEALING A DRAGON and I got stoked (there's a first edition Shadowrun adventure that is pretty much exactly that, but I digress), and I was super...

Tiers - The Other Kind of Tiers

The first 5E character I ever played was a 12th level four elements monk. He felt kind of weak sauce. Glad it wasn't just me Anyway, thanks Blue! That's incredibly helpful. Things like "the Paladin outclasses the Ranger in a fight" and "the Fighter is generally better at fighting than the...

Tiers - The Other Kind of Tiers

First off, I don't mean tiers in the 5th Edition sense of "break points where your proficiency bonus increases by one whole point". I just got into Fifth Edition and I really want to know what the relative power of the classes is; they can't be as perfectly balanced as they seem on a casual...

High Level Play - Your Experience

Many of your high level experiences are pretty gonzo and off the wall but of course I expected that considering the question I asked. About one in two D&D players has a story about one campaign in which they essentially "broke"/ and/or "won" D&D. Like I read "Level 60" in 3rd Edition and I...

    Do you ever "call" fights?

Greenfield: lol that's less calling a fight than it is barring the entrance to rapetown. All the time, but very seldom in the form of "okay this fight is over let's move to cleanup/bookeeping". Generally speaking if there are any intelligent enemies, well, they have self preservation, so I'd...

Bringing 5e elements into Pathfinder to deconfuse players

Right, h'derrr! Yeah this came up recently when I was playing 5th and someone stood up next to an enemy and I was like "that provokes an AoO" and I was like "OF COURSE IT DOES, OTHERWISE WHAT IS THE POINT OF TRIPPING?" and I guess I sounded authoritative and knowledgeable but the DM ruled that...

The Forgotten Realms, ironically, are not the Realms which have been Forgotten.

The sole purpose of this thread, besides having a half-clever title, is to ask the following: GREYHAWK 5E: What are the official plans for it, if any? And what are the major homebrews that fans have done? DRAGONLANCE 5E: What are the official plans for it, if any? And what are the major...
