Critical Role Critical Role: Amazon Orders 2 Seasons Of The Legend Of Vox Machina

There was a reference to Exandria in a recent 5e release, BG Avernus iirc. So there is already an official inclusion and of vourse with that setting book XR already released, that's putting it now a step ahead of the other settings that dony yet have setting books. One thing I thought about...

D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the Fighter: The Zouave

Hey, gotta say, that sounds like a very out of whack campaign to me too. Sorry you had that chosen by your GM for you if it was not enjoyable.

D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the Fighter: The Zouave

In my experience this is true to a degree but players seem to have more fun when they get that chance for their charscter to be the key guy in areas they worked at. So, it's not important for the 9 charisma lizard folk to be the one who charms and swet talks but it is that other places he gets...

D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the Fighter: The Zouave

While I get the time spent argument, I dont agree with this general but it will heavily vary by campaign so its understandable. In game I run, for sure, there are plenty of routine tasks that font require scores or checks but for any tier there are plenty of cases where scores on the sheet...

D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the Fighter: The Zouave

There is prodigy which hits humans and halfs. So you have three very strong fighter friendly races that can dial in a skill, tool and expertise *if * that is something you choose to do. To me, the fighter's greater strength over the rogue is durability, and sustain driven by the HD, AC and...

D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the Fighter: The Zouave

Agreed. My norm is start at 2nd - get yo 3rd in like 3 sessions, then 4th in same and then to 5th. At 5th it flows down *and * final character is set. Up until then its intro and you can change things pretty freely.

D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the Fighter: The Zouave

No. Imo you are wrong. Here is why... How big is adding 10 hp to every character?one time add 10 to max. At first level, pretty big. Really big in fact for some classes. Less for others. Wizard at 16 base plus Con vs fighter at 20 base plus Con is huge difference compared to 6 vs 10. But at...

D&D 5E (2014) Mechanics you don't want to see, ever

To keep context, the post where I brought up how tier impacts the viability and such of a 5 level span used the example of like 9th-14th and the case of the 9th bring the hero of the fights/scenes for three sessions in a row. As for 1st level wizards in 5th level parties never getting close to...

Unearthed Arcana New UA: 43 D&D Class Feature Variants

Obviously testing will weed out dome stuff but I really like these. I especially like flex-canttips and known spells getting one chsnge at long rest. Definitely like druid salt wildshape. Familiar for stuff etc. Feels like Talism should give one expertise plus the d4 for non-prof checks.

D&D 5E (2014) Falling below zero HP and Exhaustion mechanic

This is part of the cognitive divergence. To the PCs hitting zero does not mean dead, it means st risk or vulnerable - it's the equivalent of "check" or "atari". It demands immediate attention. But on the other side of that same table, NPCs on the opposing side in that same world are...

D&D 5E (2014) Falling below zero HP and Exhaustion mechanic

Or a low to middling npc followsa drop with a chill touch that not only gives anothere death save fail but also blocks heals for a bit? There are reasons for minions.

D&D 5E (2014) Falling below zero HP and Exhaustion mechanic

Cannot argue with any of these and will emphasize #4. Most often PCs going to zero is not ftom their choices alone or even much at all. It might be from a crit sequence or stuff like that. But, it is interesting to imagine some very serious tactical exploits. PC drops, then an enemy cleric...

D&D 5E (2014) Falling below zero HP and Exhaustion mechanic

Yup. I think one of the bigger whammies for exhaustion 1 is the disad on perceptions and initiative. Those combine to be frequently a serious hit for encounter starts. Not surprised to see adding ways to clear exhaustion when you add more ways to get it. Seems a common pairing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Encounter/CR Rules An Artform

It has seemed to me that the CR DMG was scaled for the assumption of "relative novice of systrm" and " low to average tactical savvy" with a lot of wiggle room. Thst seems good to me to prevent the slaughtered-newbie-walks before they get a handle on things. For groups who know enough to...

D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the Fighter: The Zouave

Wouldn't that in 5e be a case for "working together" for advantage or if it's a social encounter possibly changing the risk level and do changing the DC per DMG? Sure, its different ways of accounting for the effort helping - making the success chances better vs skill challenge tally up...

D&D 5E (2014) Mechanics you don't want to see, ever

Well the example covered a four level gap and I have to say that unless you are meaning "steer" and "balanced" to mean "secretly cover" it's just not the same at 1st-5th down parties. CR 2 ogres are fine opponents for a party of CR 5s with a new CR1 but even one strike's average damage drops...

    D&D 5E (2014) Using Subclasses at Level 1?

To me, when I make changes, I try to meet the goal with the least change and risk. One of the reasons abilities get divided is an attempt to balance multiclassing dips. Given that 1st and 2nd go so quickly, I see simply starting at 3rd (a place you will get to anyway fairly soon anyway)...

D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the Fighter: The Zouave

While I see you were responding to vou term a statement made, to me I take issues with some of the spin and goalposts in the thread. To be able to play in the skills arena the fighter does not have to have the skills be as good as the rogue. It just has to have them be good enough to play key...

    Bad Movies You Liked

Recently I inflicted Doc Savage Man of Bronze on an unsuspecting crowd on a partial cancel game night and it was a hoot. (Cue music by JP So*U*S*A*. Course it then led to lotsa discussions about "no, Doc Savage preceded those things you think came from later works" and "who is Ron Ely. Odd...

    The Boys/Better Than Us
