    D&D 5E (2014) Drow "Sunlight Sensitivity" workarounds?

That's what I do with my duergar character. It's a lot of fun too. It adds a new layer tactics to encounters, and it really plays up on the character's uniqueness*. * " "

Planescape Manual of the Planes for 5e on DMSGuild

You describe the cover as "stunning"? Am I missing something here?

D&D 5E (2014) Best one shot for 3-4th level characters, with players who really enjoy combat

The Crimson Oubliette. This is a unique dungeon that really is nothing but combat. You'll find it in the 3rd(?) issue of Kobold Press Warlock magazine. This is a giant pit full of acidic slime intent on eating you. However, the slime is averse to fire, so it will pull back from a torch twenty...

D&D General Should NPCs be built using the same rules as PCs?

Wizards of the Coast, if you're watching this thread, please don't make me do this again. I hear the guy who made stat blocks for the Third Edition of Deities and Demigods went bonkers.

    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

Impressive. I'll have to give Bing a shot.

    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

I'm only familiar with Stable Diffusion. How many iterations did it take to developed those prompts? What did your first attempt look like? Did you feed previous iterations back into the generator?

D&D 5E (2014) I Found an RPG Book at the Grocery Store

I like Jeff Ashworth a lot. I especially like that each book comes with three mini adventures. I've been using the Non-Player Character book for a few years now. It's one of my little Dungeon Master secrets. And now, the cat's out of the bag. PS: We had Safeway in Kansas when I was kid (40+...

D&D General Pandemic! Mechanics in D&D?

Check out the Domain of Dread called Richemulot in Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. It has a system for plagues and outbreaks. But it's not an application of Pandemic rules, so it's not what you're looking for. Are you specifically looking for an application of the Outbreak mechanics from...

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Check origins at your table

In reality it's a combination of all of the above. However, it is a petty peeve of mine when Players grab the dice and announce their intent to roll a check. To address this I have begun using the "Just Do It" approach. Just tell me what your Character intends to do and most of the time they'll...

D&D General How do people play so quickly? (# of sessions per adventure?)

We've been playing Curse of Stradh since 2018. The Pandemic put things on hold for two years but now we're in Castle Ravenloft. I figure we've been playing for over 100 hours.

D&D General How do people play so quickly? (# of sessions per adventure?)

We try to play 4-hour sessions every other week. However, we often miss several sessions over the holidays in November and December. I would estimate we play about 40 hours per year. We started the Curse of the Crimson Throne in February of 2012 and ended it in June of 2017. We probably had...

D&D General Having your players roll their stats

I ask the players to roll and let them know that if they don't like their results they can just do point buy. I like them to at least have the opportunity to have a score higher than 15*. I also offer the Dice Point method, but you have to take what you get with that one. * You know what I mean.

D&D General what stranger stuff is there for settings?

Maybe add Mythical Middle Ages ala Ars Magica to the list. What about Historical Fantasy, that takes real history as a basis for the campaign? Or, Alien Fantasy, where humans and even hominins like elves and dwarves don't exist? Or, one of my favorites, Anthropomorphic Animal Fantasy, ala...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the stun from Psychic Scream permanent if it is impossible to make the save?

The stunning will only last till the target makes their saving throw or the game developers recognize their mistake and issue an errata. So no, not permanent.

D&D General what stranger stuff is there for settings?

How about modern-characters-get-transported-to-a-different-time/world/reality-and-must-find-their-way-back-home. You could literally play yourself as a knight, wizard, or a hexblade warlock storm herald barbarian.

D&D General Just Eat the Dang Fruit

I try not to call for saving throws or skill checks until it is necessary to discover the outcome. For instance I don't call for a saving against lycanthropy until the next full moon. If the poison in question takes 10 minutes to act, then I don't call for a roll till I feel everyone has had...
