D&D General Would It Matter To You if D&D Books Were Illustrated by AI Instead of Humans?

Yeah, I think machine learning and artificial intelligence (whatever the difference is, if any) have already infiltrated or lives so much that we use it several times a day without even knowing it. I'm not sure it's a bad thing, or a good thing. It's a thing.

D&D General Would It Matter To You if D&D Books Were Illustrated by AI Instead of Humans?

Google search just identified the song was listening to on the radio. I imagine this application must have been trained on a vast set of music, or maybe it keeps a vast database of music and compares what it heard. Is it problematic if, hypothetically, Google didn't get permission from the...

D&D General AI isn't all that great when it comes to D&D

Well GPT4 is coming out next year, and it is supposed to blow our minds. I didn't know this was already being used in Canva. I think all of this speaks to how predictable we are generally as humans. And perhaps says something about the illusion of free will.

D&D General AI isn't all that great when it comes to D&D

"creat a set of 3 tables with 1d10 features each and roll." I don't think that prompt is going to work, Reynard; we might need more detail and specificity.

D&D General AI isn't all that great when it comes to D&D

GPT3 Prompt: Describe four human zombies for a dungeons and dragons game, each in ten words or less. It keeps trying to be more creative that what I it to be. But, I think I finally found the right question. GPT3 Prompt: Describe the physical appearance of four human zombies for a dungeons...

D&D General AI isn't all that great when it comes to D&D

Yeah, it looks like the first prompt gave us types of zombies, whereas the second gave us individual zombies (with style). What I really wanted was some short descriptions of four zombies so my players and I can keep track of them in combat. What could we do to achieve that goal?

Prompt for GPT3: describe a four different zombies for a dungeons and dragons game These aren't bad, but if we change "different" to "idiosyncratic we get... Prompt for GPT3: describe a four idosyncratic zombies for a dungeons and dragons game Interesting.

The Future of Renewable Energy: Tier List

What is the state of space-based solar? Is it a complete pipe dream? Not a good idea? I apologize ahead of time for my ignorance (I don't even know how i stumbled upon this thread).

D&D 5E (2014) Vampire (Bat Form) in a Bat Swarm

What a cool idea! I would let the vampire hide among the bats, but once it attacked or attempted to charm I would reveal it. Later it can try and hide among the swarms. I would probably not give damage to the vampire that was meant for the swarm unless it were an area of effect and vice versa...

D&D 5E (2024) Are you a DM struggling to build challenging but fair encounters

No, I can build 5e encounters as a DM just fine and sometimes they are even fun, but sometimes they do not work how I want them to work.

    D&D 5E (2014) Broad vs Narrow Classes

To be clear a mix-and-match-three-classes-of-features system would be an option for grizzled veterans, and novices would be discouraged from using it. I like the idea of a hierarchy of systems with maybe half a dozen classes for new players, an optional mix and match system for people who want...

    D&D 5E (2014) Broad vs Narrow Classes

Yes and no. When I say "a few" I mean 3 (warriors, mages, and experts). And when I say subclasses I mean classes. I may be interested in a system where warrior, mage, and expert are three different classes of features that can be mixed and matched instead of picking a class and/or subclass. In...

    D&D 5E (2014) Broad vs Narrow Classes

I think I would like to see a few broad classes with many focused subclasses. I think I would also like it if choosing a subclass were optional.

D&D 5E (2024) What can WotC do in OneD&D to make the DM's Guide worth buying?

Yes! Van Richten's guide is a good model for this in my opinion. Then I could tell my players I'm running a Conan-esque adventure, check page 125 of the Dungeon Master's Guide to see what that entails.

D&D 5E (2024) Mind Style versus Grid Style: can core support both?

I think 5th Edition actively supports Theatre of the Mind with careful wording of the rules that avoids interfering with gridded play. I found the approach to be successful and I hope they continue in the future.

D&D 5E (2024) Mind Style versus Grid Style: can core support both?

I use theatre of the mind at my table (not exclusively) and I am very happy with the way 5th Edition has handled wording the rules in order to support both gridded play and theatre of the mind. I hope they continue with this in the future.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bag of Tricks Question

In previous editions (1st, 3rd, pathfinder, 4th) the animals disappear after 5 or 10 minutes, and you can only have one out at a time. Oh well, I'll report back on how it goes.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bag of Tricks Question

Thank you all for the feedback. It's nice to see things from other points of view. Helps me to see myself. Also, I think the dawn duration of the animals' existence must have been later errata, because the first printing of the Dungeon Master's Guide doesn't seem to have it.
