    D&D 5E (2014) Running several combats in a row

Plate mail armor and shields for everyone. Then put the wizard in some sort of canister on legs.

D&D 5E (2024) Should a general Adventurer class be created to represent the Everyman?

It is refreshing to see this Everyman class being considered as a class of Player Character rather than as a profession.

D&D 5E (2024) Should a general Adventurer class be created to represent the Everyman?

Yeah, I think it would be fun. But, using Pathfinder (1e) as a reference, I don't want to see anymore level 6 Commoners as Non-Player Characters. I do think the 5e Champion Fighter and Thief Rogue work well for these purposes. I think an Everyman is not going to be specialized in magiks--arcane...

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

What's with all the Wows!? Did I use a bad word? Is '23-year trap' an obscure racist term? Debacle? I apologize ahead of time. My intent was not to offend people. The '23-year dirt word' simply refers to my personal feelings of having the rug pulled out from under me after 23 years of the open...

D&D 5E (2014) Drawbacks to Increasing Monster AC Across the Board?

It's wild to see so many different experiences at different tables. After decades of playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, I moved far away and had to find a new gaming group. In the process I discovered that my way of playing Dungeons and Dragons was not the same way everybody played...

The 23-year trap refers to the Open Gaming License debacle.

D&D General Best Big Urban/City Material (Any Edition)

Korvosa of Varisia on the continent of Avistan in the world of Golarion from the game of Pathfinder. I ran a five-year campaign of Curse of the Crimson Throne so I'm partial to Korvosa. You should also check out the unconventional city of Kear Maga in Golarion.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

I just felt dismissed and insulted by the survey. It almost seemed intentional. I mean, they could have just given older respondents the same amount of questions, then just discard them. We would never have been the wiser. Then, they tried to triggered the 23-year trap shortly thereafter and...

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

I'm happy for you, really. I still like the game too. Did you happen to take that survey Wizards of the Coast released back in 2022, or thereabouts? The survey that asked how old you were at the beginning, then gave you a number of questions about what you would like to see in the future...

D&D 5E (2014) Drawbacks to Increasing Monster AC Across the Board?

If your monsters are performing poorly, either because they're too easy to hit or they don't last long enough, don't increase their Hit Points or Armor Class, instead increase their Attack Bonus. Increasing Hit Points makes combat last longer; which could be a solution but it can also increase...

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

Here is a term that I submit for popular Internet approval: Experience Bulking. Experience Bulking is when you play through many encounters very quickly in order to get a Party of Characters up to a certain power level.

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

I think we're saying the same thing. I think what I'm saying is we don't see 900 page Adventure Paths because that would be absurd. So, instead, we have 200 page Adventure Paths which need a workaround to advance Characters as advertised, thus Milestones. Perhaps these Adventure Paths are...

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

Oh, I see, so this is a weakness of Big Gaming. Another possible way to cut the legs out from under Hasbro. Cool.

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

One of the problems with adventure paths is they would be 900 pages long and cost $200 (USD) of they actually had the experience in the needed for leveling as advertised. l am beginning to see this as a weakness of the adventure path format that we overcome with Milestone advancement. (Perhaps...

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

Yeah Morrus, but, I have to buy the whole book just to find out there are only 2 or 3 adventures from the anthology l would actually run. I'm getting sick of that.

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

I have to wonder if the rise in the popularity of Milestone level advancement is connected in some part to the rise in popularity of Adventure Paths that do not provide enough encounters to level up with Experience Points due to page count constraints. "Enquiring minds want to know".

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

In my opinion Wizards of the Coast does this because it's what we want. It's not what I want anymore. I want 2 or 3 level adventure--I want modules. But, 15 years ago I was very excited by Adventure Paths that take you from 1st to 20th level. So, the industry gave me what I wanted. However, I...

    D&D 5E (2024) Sage Advice Compendium Updated To 2024

Yeah, you also see this in Shadowdark where halflings can turn themselves invisible each day for three rounds. I guess stealth is hard to codify in a way that prevents abuses.

    D&D 5E (2024) Sage Advice Compendium Updated To 2024

We used to try and defeat wraiths, and vampires, and ghosts with antimagic because they're undead, which is obviously magical. That was until someone pointed out that life is a miracle so also obviously magical.🙃
