    D&D 5E (2014) Bag of Tricks Question

From the description for Bag of Tricks: "The creature is friendly to you and your companions, and it acts on your turn. You can use a bonus action to command how the creature moves and what action it takes on its next turn, or to give it general orders, such as to attack your enemies. In the...

D&D General Should players be aware of their own high and low rolls?

I've been experimenting with calling for stealth checks when the possibility of detection occurs, as opposed to when hiding or sneaking is initially declared. This I feel preserves the tension of stealth (if only for a moment) but still allowes the Player to roll the dice.

    D&D 5E (2014) When lore and PC options collide…

Likewise, my apologies. But, I have another theory. I don't think it is mutually exclusive to the We Really Want to be Playing Star Wars theory. I think we* as players sit in front of the Dungeon Master's screen and watch him roleplay monsters, evil badasses, every other kind of creature and...

Ouch, Ezekiel that kind of hurt.

    D&D 5E (2014) When lore and PC options collide…

My theory is that many of us players don't really want to be playing Dungeons and Dragons at all. Instead we want to be playing Star Wars. So, through the choices we make, we shape Dungeons and Dragons into something that resembles Star Wars.

D&D General Not *Another* Halfling Thread! (+)

Yes! I love hobbits! My favorite was Mr. Emmerybird, a halfing blink wizard with a penchant for frogs and a wand of vanish. At the beginning of his career he would summon some giant frogs then pop around the battlefield by vanishing, walking, then reappearing next round as if he were...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you actually use "Lifestyle Expenses?"

There is a time and place for lifestyle expenses. Our gaming table doesn't usually get to that time and place but we have been there. The game is not a 'monolith'. Play styles vary from table to table, from year to year, from person to person, and even within the same person depending on mood...

TSR Example from the worst TSR adventure module(s) ever published

It is a solo adventure for one Dungeon Master and one Player. It is written for Krunk!, a pregenerated character with 18s in all six of his ability scores. He where's nothing but a magic loincloth that gives him a stellar armor class. I would suggest any who play this adventure be previously...

D&D General Would It Matter To You if D&D Books Were Illustrated by AI Instead of Humans?

It's hard to believe that this "old" thread was just 10 months ago. How naive we were. https://www.enworld.org/threads/wombo-art-your-character-descriptions.684523/

D&D General Would It Matter To You if D&D Books Were Illustrated by AI Instead of Humans?

I answered "Yes" it will bother me, but that's probably just the human in me talking. To tell you (and myself) the truth, I probably won't pay that much attention. By the time such a publication is released I'll probably find myself surrounded and inundated by artificially generated art anyway.

D&D General Would It Matter To You if D&D Books Were Illustrated by AI Instead of Humans?

Well, the First Great Digitization of the Hobby has already happened (not that it's over); and, one of the products of that process, video games, has become it's own thing separate from the Hobby. The Second Digitization is similar. It is heavily dependent on computers and graphics, however it...

D&D General Would It Matter To You if D&D Books Were Illustrated by AI Instead of Humans?

Artificial Intelligence will eventually replace the Game Master. I think 2023 is a safe prediction for when well see that, if it isn't already a thing now. Hasn't AIDungeon already been tasked with that? This is all part of the Second Digitization.

You should try it again. Artificial Intelligence has crossed a tipping point and is now moving at light speed. Getting better by the week.

D&D General Would It Matter To You if D&D Books Were Illustrated by AI Instead of Humans?

Would it matter to you if Dungeons and Dragons books were written by Artificial Intelligence instead of humans? I've been playing around with GPT to help me get more work done. Now I'm going to go ask it to create some optional rules and see what I get.
