D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

That is likely for FRAG (but on a much bigger scale multiple times over), and maybe Eberron: Forge of the Artificer (+player options), but not for FRPG, which seems much more like E: RftLW or FRCS in 3e. The October Surprise or Exodus is unknown.

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

Still believe canceling the in-house novel line was a huge mistake, look at the success of the black library. PS & SJ & DL or even Strixhaven products did in no way in shape or form resemble E: RftLW or VRGtR, very different products and that seems to be one of big issues those products had...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

Also adventurers league and the new Greyhawk league produce D&D adventures as do cons, so they have pretty good coverage on adventures. I mean the adventures are mostly solid still, of all the products from the 5e era, they are the most unaffected and still usable, followed by setting books...

D&D General If I had the D&D/WotC Worldbuider job, I would... (+ thread)

That is confirmed to be happening this year. For new settings I'd take Arborea and turn it into it's own setting instead of being an under used chunk of other settings like Planescape & FR. Then I'd do that with other Outer Planes and do a City of Brass/Inner Planes setting book too. Not...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

Look at what we already know, at least 2 big setting books & a smaller one at minimum, 2 novels this year, and the fact that WotC basically straight up said they were doing new settings and hiring someone for new and older settings and this is right out of ghe gate. Even without the October...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

The last trilogy started because WotC approached Hickman & Weiss if I remember correctly so WotC got the ball rolling.

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

He deserves to get his DL show, but for the person driving the Franchise/Setting/Lore/Metastory/World Building I honestly believe Jeff Grubbs is the best person for the job, he has the experience and institutional memory.

    D&D 5E (2024) Where to next, WotC?

They said they still plan on new settings and are hiring folks for that.

    D&D 5E (2024) Where to next, WotC?

I'll point out that technically the Exodus TTRPG book is 5e D&D book from WotC technically.

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

More like it's own Kevin Fiege Marvel/Alex Kurtzmen (but hopefully better) Star Trek/James Gunn DC/Henry Cavalle Warhammer. Showrunner is more like Jac Shaffier (Agatha All Along & Wandavision). They are looking for person who runs the showrunners and the direction of the Metasetting...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

In the beginning 5e approach was very minimalist. We got got the tiny SCAG, with its focus on the Swordcoast and crumbs for everything else in FR. Then pure drought till E: RftLW and some MtG setting books & Exandria. Near the end we get some minimalist Slipcases for SJ & PS, an adventure for...

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I think fixing settings with products folks were upset with will be a priority (The SCAG & PS + SJ slipcases, maybe to a much lesser extent VRGtR). Hence the FR books righteous of the starting gate.

Jeremy Crawford Interview: The Monster Manual and More

I noticed they did not mention their work on Spelljammers which are much closer in concept to Airships then Infernal Warmachines, and that tells me they knew they screwed that up in terms of mechanics.

D&D 5E (2024) Above the Table Interview with Jeremy Crawford.

Rilmani being Celestials is the byproduct of the terrible decision to get rid of Outsiders/Immortals as a creature type and instead having celestials fiends. Should have kept Outsiders & Shadow as creature types, same how you have Elementals and Fey, sane logic too it.
