WotC's Irwin, Tanji, and Crawford on Tales from the Yawning Portal's Art Direction

Often, but it depend on the dungeon. I have used poster maps and covered up bits with paper, a large wet erase mat, dungeon tiles. Really depends on how complex, whether it has secret features, and whether they will need a map of the place for future sessions.

WotC's Irwin, Tanji, and Crawford on Tales from the Yawning Portal's Art Direction

Many of the maps they produce are gorgeous, and evocative. Those are good qualities. But they are not necessarily practical to use (for me at least). My desire for black and white maps might be unrealistic in this day and age, but I still have an unrealistic desire that they add printer friendly...

WotC's Irwin, Tanji, and Crawford on Tales from the Yawning Portal's Art Direction

I have some, but unfortunately not all, of those old modules. Still would be nice if they would put out printer friendly versions of maps. They could put them up at DM's Guild. I am tired of getting modern modules and getting dark colored or solid black background maps that are hard on my...

WotC's Irwin, Tanji, and Crawford on Tales from the Yawning Portal's Art Direction

I don't care much for modern game maps. They are too saturated with color. Does WOTC put out plain black and white printer friendly maps too? I am very tempted to get Tales From The Yawning Portal, but I need maps that are easy to play the game with.

    D&D 5E (2014) Boons and Setbacks in 5e

One way to take skill into account would be to use the optional rule for proficiency dice instead of a proficiency bonus, and only if both the d20 and the proficiency die turn up 1s does something bad happen.

    D&D 5E (2014) Made it Happen. 5E Warlord.

I notice the Path of Bravery isn't particularly brave until 9th level. I think they should at least get advantage to fear saves until then.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Warlord Demand Poll

What if the Warlord class' encouragement could inspire damage resistance instead? Their allies could take 1/2 damage the next time they took damage, for example, and maybe for more hits at higher level. Sure, it won't help the raging Barbarian, but was he really listening anyway?

D&D 5E (2014) What kind of Warlord design are you hoping for?

I voted "other", simply because I like the concept of the Warlord class (name sucks though, sorry have to say it). I never saw a 3e Marshall or even played 4e at all, so I have no mechanical preferences. I think it will oen up more design space for martial characters, which is something I really...

    D&D 5E (2014) Improved Find Familiar

If a wizard wants a megafamiliar, why not make it a subclass, a la beastmaster ranger?

D&D 5E (2014) Quintis the Warlord, what can he do and when can he do it?

Too much to comment on everything, but I've always liked the concept of the warlord class (never played 4th). I really want martial options to expand. I like the idea of help as a bonus action. I am concerned that granting advantage might be too powerful. The move as a reaction to ally...

D&D 5E (2014) Additional character material for the 5e rules expansion book

I'd like to see an optional Stances System, that replaces Fighting Styles for the warrior types if it is used. Warrior types could start with several of them that they could switch between, and learn new ones as they leveled. This way, just like spellcasters have something to look forward to...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Mass Combat

I like the direction of these rules. When it comes to PCs, I would like them to expand on the ways PCs can impact the mass battles besides be spellcasters and cast spells. Maybe a section on PCs as commanders. For example, Fighter commanders could give a bonus to their units initiative and...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

Or not. All the creatures should have advantage to be hit, which cancels out the disadvantage to hit in this case, if I am reading RAW correctly. Maybe there IS another section I am missing.

D&D 5E (2014) Eliminating darkvision from most races

I am beginning to wonder if what I should do is give a bonus to night blind races when they are in bright light. Like a +2 to perception, investigation, and initiative in well lit areas. Then it would make sense for them to feel safer in the light, and pull out those torches to stave off the dark.

D&D 5E (2014) Protection from Zone of Truth

Another option is to hire a new second in command, feed him a bunch of false information that he totally buys, and then take a short vacation while he totally handles those pesky inquisitive adventurers on the doorstep.

D&D 5E (2014) Protection from Zone of Truth

Make it very obvious that you know you are under the Zone of Truth. Make sure you wear a very obvious item that will detect as magical, preferably a ring, and keep glancing at it. Think of the most outrageous thing you know that are actually true. Tell these truths, in the most shifty way...

D&D 5E (2014) Throwing Weapons is Cool! So why is it weak?

How about allowing thrown at close range to shove. It's not straight up more damage, but it is I think more interesting and would have some good situational uses.

D&D 5E (2014) Throwing Weapons is Cool! So why is it weak?

I think it is a good feat, but suggest changing the first point to Increase range by +10' for every point of STR modifier, with a minumum of +10'. That way both the STR and DEX based thrower are better in different areas.

D&D 5E (2014) Throwing Weapons is Cool! So why is it weak?

I would simply allow thrown weapons to be drawn and thrown without requiring object interaction. Face it, the "ammo" property for bows doesn't make any sense as an exception to the action economy. The rules should be consistent. Drawing arrows should require object interaction, or throwing...

    D&D 5E (2014) Battle Master Homebrew Idea

I like your design goals, and I think the changes you have made are real improvements. Since I like where this is going I thought I'd offer my opinion on some of the features. Superiority Dice: If you find that your final version of this subclass is overpowered, reducing the number of...
