D&D 5E (2024) New Dungeon Master's Guide Cover Features Venger (From the D&D Cartoons)

Honestly, a modern version of the D&D cartoon would be sick, especially if given the love and attention something like She-Ra or Voltron got. The cover's alright. I don't like it as much as the Player's Handbook cover, but its pretty and colorful so that's good enough for me!

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

I really like the core set of classes in 5e's PHB, or Pathfinder 2e's CRB. I think that's a good number and covers all the "iconic" classes that give D&D its identity. Beyond that, I certainly don't mind new classes, but I want them to be rather distinct. I like how many of 5e's subclasses are...

Running adventures in systems that they were not designed for.

I'm super obsessed with Dragonbane now, I think you could run any sort of traditonal or gritty fantasy adventure in it without much difficulty. Top of my to do-list would be D&D's Keep on the Borderlands or WFRP's Enemy Within campaign. (Or really anything from those games/editions in general.)...

Where Do You Get Your Digital (RPG) Books and Materials?

For the most part I like to consolidate my books to one place: DriveThruRPG. (Which includes the DMs' Guild and Pathfinder Infinite, since they share a library.) Some products I've bought directly from the publisher, such as all my Pathfinder stuff, since most of that isn't on DriveThru. Also...

    Dragonbane by Free League

I've been running Dragonbane with the Foundry Module for a weeks now (its excellent btw.) I really like it. It perfectly scratched the itch of a "Classic" or "OSR-like" fantasy system for me, while avoiding some of the most common pitfalls I have with those games, such as high lethality. Its...

D&D 5E (2014) Help me understand & find the fun in OC/neo-trad play...

So if I'm understanding all these terms correctly (which I'm not sure I am, but here goes...) I like Neo-Trad because its an intersection of two things I enjoy greatly about about RPGs. I really like role-playing. Creating a character, really embodying them, how they think, how its different...

Paizo Spicy hot take: Golarion isn't a setting...

Now that's just plain wrong. If you want to dive deep into the setting, you'll find plenty of connective tissue. Such as Galt, Andoran and Cheliax (and therefore most of Cheliax's vassals like Isger) were all once part of Taldor at its peak. You can find trade route information for how the...

    D&D General Planning a D&D editions tour

4e had Keep on the Shadowfell which was like the quickstart rules + adventure. Its set in the Nentir Vale and everything. Little dungeon, best part is its free on DriveThru. Edit: Also Khyber's Harvest, a Free RPG Day (i think) set in Eberron. Looks pretty short though. I really second Sunless...

    Worst Published Adventure Starts

This was the worst for me. My group and I were having a ball exploring and generally doing hexcrawl shenanigans, but the looming spectre of the apocalypse was starting to kill our vibe. Our DM finally just said "Don't worry about that, you got time, have fun."

    Worst Published Adventure Starts

The Beginning of Hoard of the Dragon Queen has had some problems. For the uninitiated it begins with an attack on a village. An army of cultists, kobolds and oh yeah... a honkin‘ adult dragon. (This adventure starts at Level 1...) The adventure expects the party to rush into town to save the...

D&D General If you could be any D&D species in real life…

Changeling for reasons. Or an elf. I'd like to live a long time.

D&D General When did you leave D&D? Why? For what game? And what brought you back?

I left D&D 5e for Pathfinder 2e. I quite like 5e. The core 5e experience is pretty satisfying for me, a good amount of crunch but not too much. My biggest frustration is the difficulty of balancing high level encounters, its just a lot of work as a DM. The rest of my frustration mostly comes...

D&D General [+] Tell me about Greyhawk

That is a bonus for me. A light settings is great because there's less work to start running in it. But I do like details, they give me ideas for plots. Factions, towns, ruins... all of that is good stuff. I do think there's a perfect middle-ground but it likely varies by the GM's taste.

D&D General [+] Tell me about Greyhawk

Y'all are doing a great job selling Greyhawk to somebody who's never used it (me.) That's what makes a good setting to me IMO. I've read some where adventure seems to jump off the page and brainstorming as a GM is easy and others full of fascinating fluff but I still feel like I'm doing all the...

    D&D 5E (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

I think the game does just fine with the selection of feats it currently has. So if that 75 is just the majority of what was released in the PHB, Tasha's and Xanathar's re-printed, I'm honestly fine with that. As a crunch fan, more might be fun, but its hardly necessary.

D&D 5E (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

Being part of a multi-verse is easy enough to ignore (there's no such thing to me) And unless a recent adventure gets canonized in the next Eberron sourcebook I'd say my point still stands. Because that's just it. We've had 3 "Core" Eberron setting books and they all start in the same year...

D&D 5E (2024) What do people think of the new dragon designs?

My favorite thing about the old designs was that each type of dragon had a consistent look. All red dragons had the same horn shape, etc. etc. So as long as they keep that (which they appear to be doing, why else would you need a ref sheet for a dragon?) I'm cool with it. Also these designs...

D&D 5E (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

Honestly the issue I had. I wanted to get into Greyhawk just because I love digging around in fantasy worlds, but some of the names for things just felt so goofy. Iuz? Maybe I'd get used to it with time, I got used to Forgotten Realms after all.

D&D 5E (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

Well I mean, I kind of get it. One of my favorite things a bout Eberron is there's been no meta-plot advancement (though sure, they added dragonborn and stuff.) I prefer when books don't have these meta-plots, because I just end up ignoring them. Which then makes it more difficulty when I'm...

D&D 5E (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

Y'know, not every setting needs it, but I always liked Greyhawk having heraldry. It was a good way of showing right off the bat that this fantasy world is very medieval feeling, not like the very high fantasy Forgotten Realms.
