What I'm saying is that the studio system is very compartmental with unions, guilds and all. It's like a sausage machine. If the director is not also an Executive producer and has the Final Cut, the movie is often out of their hands once the filming is done. Producers and the Chief of editing...

While I agree about the quality of the movies, Mendes was the director and not involved in the script writing of Skyfall or Spectre. Yes, sometimes the director can affect some enlightened changes during filming, but they cannot rewrite an inferior script.
