Discussion on the feasability of WotC supporting all editions in DDI

Not strictly accurate. The 1E-2E changeover was a far less drastic one than any of the WotC edition changeovers, not only in content, but in support. Many 1E products were kept available up until 1993 or later, judging from the backlist in TSR's own catalogs. DRAGON Magazine articles designed...

Wizard just announced [Your Dream Release]

The problem is, Wizards just announced that my dream release . . . has been shelved. :( (I've wanted a standalone Ravenloft game for years. I don't know if I'd use 4E as a base, or would have liked the 'playing monsters' element they were talking up, but if it's been shelved, I doubt...

    Modrons!

I can't read the article . . . but that seems appropriate for beings created by Primus. :)

Dear Wizards, I no longer have a clue what you're doing

Well, it's true that WotC did push D&D in a much more mini-centered direction once they took over (this, along with the instability of the rules, is one of my two major reasons for not really buying into 4E--and I'd generally abandoned 3E long before), but the collectible miniatures aspect...

    Best Dragon Magazine Issue Evar

Issue #126, October 1987, one of their first Halloween 'theme' issues. Lots of cool articles in that one. My favorite? #162, October 1990: More Halloween goodness, including Nigel Findley's seminal article on "The Mind of the Vampire" (and the ghost, and the lich . . . ) and RAVENLOFT DMing...

    New D&D In-Store Play Program

On the other hand, there have been rumors of an Advanced Player's Handbook and Advanced Dungeon Master's Guide in the works over the past few months.

Fortune Cards, we just received a preview

It's looking like you might have been partially right. New Wizards Play Network D&D starting up in September. It's not competitive in the sense of 'players against each other', but it does appear to be more of a 'challenge' event or quasi-tournament style, and they do encourage Fortune Cards.

What do you think of the Deluxe DM Screen?

I'll see your parody and raise you pedantry: "A few reds even make their homes among snow-capped peaks, because altitude matters to them more than temperature."--Draconomicon: Chromatic Dragons, 41 :D

    AD&D or 5e

And yet Pathfinder appears to be a solid #2 in the market. :)

    AD&D or 5e

Nothing more than the titles, I'm afraid. Advanced Player's Handbook mentioned. Advanced Dungeon Master's Guide mentioned. But as I mentioned above, I expect we'll hear more--even if it's just 'they were scrapped'--at D&DXP next week.

    AD&D or 5e

Leaks over the last six months suggest that an "Advanced Player's Handbook" and "Advanced Dungeon Master's Guide" are on the agenda. I expect we'll hear something about this next week.

    D&D has been cancelled (speculation).

I should have been clearer. The figures were published in the January 2006 and January 2007 issues. Thus, they cover the span from late 2004/early 2005 (depending on the lead time) to sometime near the end of 2006--long before 4E was announced. EDIT: Although the figures given are either...

    D&D has been cancelled (speculation).

The published circulation figures--in the last full year before the cancellation, circulation dropped from about 50,000 to about 40,000.

    D&D has been cancelled (speculation).

Even though monthly print periodicals appear to be in trouble across the board, and Dragon was showing signs of sinking before WotC decided to go digital with it?

The fragmentation of the D&D community... was it inevitable?

Perhaps not, but it may be an inevitability. Trying to correct this issue was one of the purposes behind AD&D--1st Edition--if I understand it correctly. The idea of everyone playing a unified game was the goal of AD&D, of 3E and the d20 license, and probably of 4E as well. How well each one of...

    Business Discussion

Thanks for pointing that out and reminding me that at least some subset of D&D fans almost always hates the company producing the game. There are times when it wanes, and times (like now) when it waxes, but there's always at least a few people who will be complaining that " 'They' killed the game!"

    Mazes and Monsters retro clone

So when do we get OM&M, based on the book's version of the rules set? :)

Looking for Cleric Convert Religion rules

3.5 had rules for it in the Player's Handbook 2, I believe, in the last chapter on 'rebuilding characters.' I think 2E may have addressed it in the Complete Priest's Handbook. EDIT: Sorry, I misunderstood the question.

Ampersand to reveal mystery of the disappearing books (apparently)

The new Ampersand is up. The Class Compendium, Mordenkainen's Magnificent Emporium and Hero Builder's Handbook are gone. Period. Heroes of Shadow is now a hardcover April release. Plastic miniature booster packs and magazine compilations are also gone.

Ampersand to reveal mystery of the disappearing books (apparently)

However, the weekly update yesterday did list Ampersand as one of the articles on deck for this week.
