D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

When I google it, I get a picture of Seth MacFarland's face. Does that mean there's an adaptation to screen already in the works?

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

I have yet to read the Imaro books. How do they avoid all problematic elements, in your opinion?

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

There were some earlier in this discussion, not giving names, that made it seem like they thought there was something wrong with people wanting to read REH or HPL when there's other options for those genres. It sounded like the thinking that leads to calls for book burning to me. I personally...

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

I'm currently reading through the Complete Compleat Enchanter and enjoying it.

D&D General Reification versus ludification in 5E/6E

So if a warrior gets promoted to a captain, they'll be handed a bigger sword...but deal less damage with it? Does the captain get any perks to make up for that?

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

If it's meant to be a give and take, then what did the opposing side compromise on? Looks more like they got their way across the board.

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

Since I never used maedar, I don't care if they got replaced with male medusas. I would prefer they expand on the medusa in a more interesting way though. Why not "medusa" creatures for other elements? If the classic one turns victims to stone with a gaze, what about: If they look at you...

D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

I prefer it when the cosmic forces and entities are more "blue and orange" morality, with black, white and grey just being the extent mortal minds can comprehend them.

D&D General It's 2034, and the new PHB is in your hands.

The rule books won't exist. A.I. will generate them from scratch at the start of every game session. The dice will also be A.I. generated, as will some of the players.

    D&D 3.x The 4E We Didnt Get.

I was doing my own rewrite of 3E a while ago, but got busy after my son was born. There were some major departures from 3E though, including: Only 4 classes total. Warrior, Devoted, Rogue, Adept. Warriors had combat abilities, devoted got powers with a pool of points to use them, rogues got...

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

Considering how abstract HP are, some players may see the "chunky salsa" rule as too harsh. I like the rule personally.

D&D 5E (2024) Should 2014 Half Elves and Half Orcs be added to the 2025 SRD?

Thanks for the info. Looks like a bunch of bad decisions to me. Dodged a bullet not getting it.

D&D 5E (2024) Should 2014 Half Elves and Half Orcs be added to the 2025 SRD?

OK, thank you. And though Half-Elves are forced to "pick a parent" now, do they at least get their own lifespan and height range entry similar to what they used to get? Or is that also the same as one of their parents?

D&D 5E (2024) Should 2014 Half Elves and Half Orcs be added to the 2025 SRD?

As I don't have the new PHB, can someone who does tell me if there's a section like in older editions that list average heights, average lifespans, max lifespans, etc.? If there is such a section, are Half-Elves listed there?

    D&D General Player-generated fiction in D&D

This may be off-topic, but how would it be resolved if two (or more) players generate fiction that contradict each other? Does the DM decide then, or does the whole group have to come to a consensus? Example: Player 1 - I'm the last of the elves and am on a quest to find a way to travel back...

    AD&D 1E Favorite Obscure Rules from TSR-era D&D

Personally, I feel Magic-User and Thief should have swapped Breath Weapon saves. An agile thief should be better at leaping out of the way of danger than the fragile mage.

D&D General D&D Class Test- Which character class suits you?

    Paladin - Monk/Wizard for me, I guess.

    D&D General other possible elements?

The element of surprise is the most dangerous of all! A devoted surprise mage school would be really fun to play though.
