    D&D 5E (2014) Just wrapped up four consecutive days of D&D 5th.

I've been impressed by the elegant simplicity of 5B, it seems to hold together rather well. The jury's still out on high-level play, looking fwd to getting some feedback on that from the forums, since I don't have a 5e game going right yet.

    D&D 5E (2014) Just wrapped up four consecutive days of D&D 5th.

If you're referring to Arcane Recovery, it specifically says "once per Day during a short rest .." so I would take that to mean you must do a Long Rest in between

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L for November 18

Those burned by LFQW will consider spells overpowered, no matter what they are nerfed down to in 5e. Which I suppose makes sense, but sucks for those who didn't experience the problem or actually want to play a spellcaster (as I've said elsewhere, in my no-HR PF campaign the problem is Paladins...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L for November 18

Ssshhhhh ;) Honestly, I can see a tad OP, but not too much. Fighter looks pretty sick to me.

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L for November 18

It is false balance IMO. Spells often fizzle even when you're lucky enough to know and have prepared the right one - saves, SR, ER, dispel, disruption, immunities, etc. Spells are limited (so limited in D&DN) and IMO they should trump at-wills. Casters have been beaten senseless in D&DN. Lower...

D&D 5E (2014) More Spells Should be Able to be Cast at Higher Levels

Frankly, there are not enough high-level slots to bother going too far (i.e. taking up room in the '5e PHB') with this IMO. D&DN Wizard (Mage) gets 1, and only one, slot of 6th level and higher spells. Although I like the concept, and the examples, and they should do a few more than in the...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 reprints....who has them?

Looking fwd to the Slave Lords reprint - includes a wholly new module, a trend I hope will continue (new material for 1e, 2e, 3e, ...)

D&D 5E (2014) Have you moved on yet? Has Wizard's handled this properly?

I fade in and out as well. I want this to work, I like the intended spirit of D&DN as the designers describe it. But then a new Packet comes out and I get irate about nerfed rogues or nerfed wizards etc. Then I calm down and remember the rules are still in wild flux. Bottom line, although PF...

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

Don't think so. It's a pretty weak spell affecting avg 13HP ... + as mentioned you lose any overage so even less in real use. If it had a save too then it would be - why bother? Just spam magic missile, you get your auto 10HP avg and creature is dead, not merely unconscious. I think they need...

The Id DM Interviews Monte Cook

    Pretty telling quote, IMO ;)

    Bounded Accuracy L&L

I like this Bounded idea very much, but one red flag goes up for me: it seems HP leap to even greater importance under this system. How will the low-HP glass-cannon classes (rogues and wizards) fare in such a system? Will the correlated damage inflation make them easy kills when hit? The...

    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

There's a thread on WOTC forum lamenting the constant death of the wizards in playtest. It seems that, without AOO, there's little to prevent the enemy from gang-banging the wimpy wiz in melee or at range (except a kind DM). This rings true, though mind you I have not ran a playtest myself yet...

    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

I personally think they need to weaken these cantrips, but also un-nerf the 'real spells' (the ones that are pale shadows of 1e) so they're actually worth using in lieu of the cantrips. Un-nerfing also means bringing back things like spider climb, alter self, levitate, summon monster - which I'm...

    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

    1) If I have understood 5e correctly, at new levels this 5e wiz only gets d4 as well, except 1s are =2 (con). Not a huge diff, and HP inflation (compare 5e monster HPs to 1e) means that the extra HP this guy got from lvl1 may not be effectively more in the context of the 5e system (i.e...

    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

I agree, good points. I'd only qualify that spamming the best 'pew pew pew' cantrip is not my personal fave in terms of fun/distinctive gameplay. Feedback I will surely give to WoTC ;)

    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

I can't shake the feeling this 5e wiz has the traditional 1e drawbacks, but with nerfed spells (no scaling, easier saves), and that spamming the admittedly decent cantrips to bridge the gap won't work for long, espec into mid levels. Could well be, and the oD part remains to be seen. The old...

    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

I dunno, Greatsword +6 (2d6 +7) at level 1 is gonna give someone the hurt real hard. d12HD (granted you don't see the HP effect relative to Wiz until after lvl1) His AC might be a typo, or it'll probably get fixed based on all the screaming (but I agree, too low). If this wiz is "all powerful"...

    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

Spamming at-wills does not feel very 'classic D&D' to me. I'm OK with PF at-wills, because in that system cantrips remain very much minor. That fact that 5e wizards are relying heavily on cantrips instead of 'real' spells seems off to me. Also, these 5e cantrips might scare the bar-room...
