[UPDATED] Issues With Official D&D 5E Spell Cards?

I'm glad to know that they are responding to customers about these return issues. I haven't heard anything new from Battlefront myself, but am still hoping. Regardless, though, I'm impressed that Mr Brisigotti has candidly addressed some of the concerns raised by posters in this thread: he's...

[UPDATED] Issues With Official D&D 5E Spell Cards?

Thank you for weighing in, Mr Brisigotti: I appreciate your responding directly to the discussion here. I hope you can also address the issues of how and when customers can buy the updated Spellbook Cards decks from Battlefront/GF9, and clarify whether Battlefront will accept returns of the...

[UPDATED] Issues With Official D&D 5E Spell Cards?

I'm not trying to provoke anyone's outrage, but you're right that this information is important. Here are the relevant e-mails: first, my message to Battlefront sent on 9 February... ...and their response sent on 11 February: I took this to mean that they were okay with delaying the order...

[UPDATED] Issues With Official D&D 5E Spell Cards?

cperkins, thank you for posting about your interaction with Battlefront: as lousy as it sounds to say, I feel better knowing it's not just me. It really sounds to me as though I was interacting with two different people in their customer-service department, only one of whom had the information...

GF9 is updating the D&D 5E SPELL CARDS

That's how I felt after the first rebuff, which is why I replied again, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt: I really thought I must have been hugely unclear about wanting to return the deck, but... no, apparently that's their answer.

GF9 is updating the D&D 5E SPELL CARDS

I had a bad experience buying through GF9 (Battlefront). I e-mailed them about my order, placed 8 February, and asked them to hold it until they could fulfill with the revised printings, and they wrote back to say that the updated decks were expected in "late March or early April", and that my...

D&D 5E (2014) It's October 1. Do you known where your spell cards are?

The ones I know of are the prestidigitation and thaumaturgy cantrips, plus etherealness.

D&D 5E (2014) It's October 1. Do you known where your spell cards are?

It's actually a pretty good rule of thumb: there are only a very few spells which have "up to" durations but don't require concentration. But I still wish they'd mentioned concentration on the cards, even if just as "Up to 10 minutes (C)" or something.

    Horror on the Orient Express

5 out of 5 rating for Horror on the Orient Express I'm running this campaign from the Kickstarter backer PDFs, and while I wish I had the physical books in my hands, I have to say that I'm immensely pleased with the expanded and revamped version of the campaign. The original campaign was a...

D&D 5E (2014) It's October 1. Do you known where your spell cards are?

A poster on RPGGeek received a duplicate card pack in the Arcane set (two sets of 3rd-9th level spells, no cantrips through 2nd-level spells): I gave them the e-mail address of Chris Townley at Battlefront Games (GF9's owner), since he'd responded to my e-mail about the Concentration issue, and...

D&D 5E (2014) Tyranny of Dragons DMs Screen Pictures

You mean like the Savage Worlds Customizable GM Screen (http://www.amazon.com/dp/1930855591)? I have one of these, and it's great for exactly the use you describe. (Whoops: hadn't seen that MerricB beat me to it.)

Chess is not an RPG: The Illusion of Game Balance

I never played anything in Eberron, so I wasn't aware that it used Action Points. (Myself, I never saw them used in play in 3e or 3.5e.)

Chess is not an RPG: The Illusion of Game Balance

Minor nit-pick: Action Points are not present in the core 3e or 3.5e rulebooks; they were an option added (as far as I know) in the 3.5e Unearthed Arcana supplement. So it depends on whether we take "3e" to mean "core 3rd edition" or "3rd edition with all the available options".

The 1e book was titled Unearthed Arcana as well; it's the namesake of the 3e book. Arcana Unearthed was Monte Cook's "variant Player's Handbook" and not released by TSR/WotC. (And I suspect the poster actually meant "UA", but I'm prepared to be wrong.)

Mearls has stated that conversion guides for older editions will be released after the DMG. I prefer this approach: I'd rather have them be separate publications and keep the core rulebook for the 5e rules.

I'm with you: I'd prefer a narrative, abstract, non-miniature-based system, closer to the War Machine than to the original BATTLESYSTEM rules. But some people will want a tactical skirmish system, and a separate supplement could allow for both approaches.

And the preview entries for the Eye and Hand of Vecna are on pp. 224–5, which is the beginning of the "Alternative Rewards" section in the ToC listing, rather than in the "Artifacts" section.

The Dungeon Master's Basic Rules is supposed to be updated after the DMG is out: the current draft makes it pretty clear that those sections are skeletal because they were still being worked on when the PDF came out.

Along somewhat-similar lines, I thought we were going to get mass-combat rules, and there was an article to that effect on the Wizards site during the playtest. I'd love to have those things in the core rules, but can live without them; maybe we can get a domain/politics/battle/war-focussed...
