    Hordes of the Abyss: Q&A

This is an omission from the table only, as she receives a full write-up in the book. --Eric

Age of Worms - Greyhawk or FR better?

My design approach was to convert every detail for the FR purist, figuring that folks could easily not use all the conversion. If I'd gone the other way (done very little converting), then it would have left the hard part for the DM. Glad to hear it! I think you're probably running it the best...

Age of Worms - Greyhawk or FR better?

The conversion is done and published on the Paizo sight through Wormcrawl Fissure. Only one conversion left to go (and that should be very short and fairly obvious after the other conversions). --Eric

    Hordes of the Abyss.

My contribution to Dragons of Faerun has been done for months. Of late I've written two adventures for Dungeon and have begun work on a new project. --Eric

    Hordes of the Abyss.

FWIW, I think comparing an advanced 60 HD balor to Demogorgon is a false comparison. There are rules for advancing balors to 60 HD, for campaigns that need that kind of advancement. However there's nothing to say that there are 60 HD balors. Even though Demogorgon is unique, there are rules...

    Is Jack Bauer LG?

Possible spoiler ... It's not clear to me that Henderson is really dead. The whole scene looked pretty staged for the benefit of the navy guy. Perhaps that "scene" was how Jack fulfilled his promise to Henderson. --Eric

    Named demons

That was sort of the point. We've been trying to weave in all the 1e named balors from the original list into Realms history. Next up Type IV and V! :-) --Eric

    Named demons

So other than "Balor", I believe four of the other five have been incorporated into the Forgotten Realms. Alzoll ... Alzoll has not yet appeared in the Realms, IIRC. Errtu ... Errtu first appears in "The Crystal Shard", reappears in a later novel, possibly "Passage to Dawn". Ndulu ... Ndulu...

Running Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil

I don't recall one from Dungeon magazine, but there is a tie-in adventure in the web enhancement called the Caves of Ancient Secrets. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20010713b Perhaps you're thinking of that? --Eric

Undermountain - Temple to Loviator? - my players stay out!

As mentioned above, the Temple of Loviatar in Undermountain is revealed in Dragon #227 in the "Reports from Undermountain" article. The name "House of Pain" actually comes from the Complete Necromancers' Handbook. If you look at the NPCs in the back, two of them are based in Waterdeep and...

Need a Dungeon Like Forge of Fury

You could transform the back story of "Sons of Gruumsh" pretty easily. It would work well as an orc lair set in a dwarven ruin. --Eric

    Blood Magus Familiar

If you're going to spend a feat on Improved Familiar, you might consider the blood imp (in the fiend folio, I believe). It's basically an imp loaded down with blood in its veins, making it the perfect stirge lure, vampire larder, or blood magus familiar (at least from a role-playing perspective...

Cities of Mystery and City System... what are they really?

Cities of Mystery has nothing to do with Waterdeep, let alone the Realms, despite its inclusion in the Forgotten Realms line. City System is basically a map of the city of Waterdeep, made up of 10 maps that each map a 10th of the city. The maps are huge ... I think the city as a whole ends up...

    Shackled City in Oerth

I think officially it's set in the SW corner of the map in the Amedio Jungle, south of the Hold of Sea Princes. If you have them, look at the maps printed in Dragon recently ... Cauldron and the other city (Sassadrine?) are both on that map. --Eric

There are four known pirates bases in the region of Faerun. The Nelanther / City of Skaug -- See Lands of Intrigue (available for free on WoTC website) The Pirate Isles - Pirates of the Sea of Fallen Stars (available as a PDF for $5, I believe) Narubel - See Serpent Kingdoms (actually shown on...

Question on Monstrous Compendium #11 – Forgotten Realms Appendix II

I think it was a typo. I'd go with "9", because "3/4ths speed" makes sense for a one-legged creature that hops. --Eric

FR old edition info on thunder rift and gold dwarves?

There's also a prestige class in Races of Faerun, IIRC. (Skyrider or something like that.) I think there's a Realms-variant version of the dwarven defender in the Player's Guide as well. (Doublecheck first though, as I'm going by memory.) --Eric
