The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

I do on occasion. I hate buying expensive hardbacks without a browse through. I've looked through all the 5E books on shelves. It saved me a ton of money.

The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

Sorry? :) Of course I know the Alien franchise, but I don't recall ever seeing any of the RPG titles on shelves. I thought Tales from the Loop was a TV show.

The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

Thanks but this does not answer my question. All kinds of products have won critical acclaim that I've never seen on a shelf.

The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

Never heard of them. Or rather don't recall hearing of them anyway. How is their marketing and distribution power? Am I going to see TOR2E on bookshelves in the US alongside D&D like I do PF, FFG SW, etc?

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else feel like the action economy and the way actions work in general in 5e both just suck?

The two are completely intertwined for better or worse. Until you change the Initiative structure and design the game around it, you will get weirdness and overly swingy results (which is what I was getting at in the other Initiative thread).

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else feel like the action economy and the way actions work in general in 5e both just suck?

I am totally about modding any game to fit my/our needs. I run everything in a fast loose style. That said, I enjoy different styles that may not be my preferred way to run games. Highly tactical 4E with minis for example. I don't want to play a year long campaign like that, but an adventure...

Soliciting tips for a solo Dungeon World game

@Aldarc I haven't seen that one yet- will have to take a look. I am on the fence about a DW "2E", as I think the Community has clearly made some improvements in the various hacks and that may just be personal bias as the hacks fit my needs better. That said, I think the DW Community is far...

Soliciting tips for a solo Dungeon World game

Thinking further, I do believe that in the solo game, unless your player is up for making a majority of the player facing decisions about the world, adventure, etc that it's probably a good idea to have a bit "tighter" background about the world, and overall fronts/scenario details and keep it...

Soliciting tips for a solo Dungeon World game

The Kid was not terribly involved other than creating situations- not for a #s balancing effect. The NPCs were there for color/the story, and not because they were necessary for numbers balance either. IOW- I don't find it matters other than in the fiction. None are needed for mechanical...

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else feel like the action economy and the way actions work in general in 5e both just suck?

That sounds awesome. I wish I felt the same way- found my "ultimate" game and it's satisfying to everyone. I like variety and running different systems, old and new- Fantasy Age, 4E (highly modded) 13th Age, Dungeon World, Palladium Fantasy, DCC RPG, Earthdawn, Runequest, etc. My players not so...

Soliciting tips for a solo Dungeon World game

Dungeon World is balanced at the table in the moment of the fiction. I have run solo games for my Son, using only 1 low level PC. I did nothing special other than keeping #s of enemies smaller (4 or 5 goblins or such when he ran up against multiples at low level). He ended up with a "companion"...

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else feel like the action economy and the way actions work in general in 5e both just suck?

I know for my tastes, I've had so much same ol same ol D&D since 1977 that I like the alternate/fresh takes on gameplay and mechanics - 4E, 13th Age, etc. But if you (general "you") are looking for a more traditional take on D&D then 13th Age is probably going to disappoint. That said, I have...

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else feel like the action economy and the way actions work in general in 5e both just suck?

This is truth. I think there is that expectation from many, but 13th Age is not 4E revised or 4E second edition or 4E under a different name. It takes some design cues from 4E. It takes some design cues from 3E. It has a buttload of absolutely new stuff. Stuffed into a Spirit of OD&D wrapping...

D&D 5E (2014) Intiative Score (DMG variant rule)

Understood. For me, it's the opposite. I don't find much in 5e land that floats my boat. There is far more wealth of material out there in TSR/OSR-dom than 5e and it all converts to a system like C&C directly (which is what it was designed to do)

    D&D 4E Are powers samey?

Nope. lf you cannot be bothered to actually read what I say, I can't be bothered to answer your questions

    D&D 4E Are powers samey?

Most of the time it's the opposite ;)

    D&D 4E Are powers samey?

I fixed it- I think you need to take a breath, and go back and read exactly what I have said, and what I quoted. Nowhere have I said that my feelings are 100% exclusive to everyone who disliked 4E. Nowhere. I do say that I 100% believe that many gamers do have issues with 4E for the reasons...

    D&D 4E Are powers samey?

@BryonD @Zardnaar All the things you both mention, I can easily turn around and refute your position in the opposite direction. "wrong" is subjective. "everyone I know" is anecdotal. Your experiences don't make mine any less valid, and vice versa. I explained my views previously. Don't like it? 🤷

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else feel like the action economy and the way actions work in general in 5e both just suck?

If you mean the Fighters, I understand. Some players relish it, others do not like it in the least. As a player I like it, but not all my players have. An easy reskinning of the Barbarian ( or the multiple fan created versions ) makes a more "classic fighter" class. I'm not sure what the issue...

D&D 5E (2014) How should 5th edition introduce the remaining classic settings?

Let them Rest in Peace for pity's sake.
