Exactly. The ability to use Infusions makes it possible to augment them with False Life, Blur, and so on to make them more survivable and harder to hit.

I'd be strongly tempted to consider the Giant Vulture for the sake of Pack Tactics. It's also got a high enough INT score to use Infusions.
