D&D 5E (2014) Rules Discussion: Somatic Components and Restrained

Another issue... If the hands are restrained (I am not talking about the condition, but the fact the hand is stuck in a web, tightly chained or something that restrain its movement), the hand could not be able to slip inside your component pouch or grab your holy symbol or whatever spellcasting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Legen Lore 7/14/2014

I just have one thing to say... MODRONS!!!

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Scores: Bonuses and Penalties! Optional in DMG?

I houseruled it a bit different... Instead of actual penalties, I changed the cap. For example, dwarves can go at 20 cap to most attributes, EXCEPT Dexterity, which have cap on 15. Keeping cap on 15 works well with multiclass rules (at least how they were on playtests and assuming the requisites...

D&D 5E (2014) My biggest gripe about 5e so far, as a DM

One thing to see is if they will keep the "tematic" flavourful abilities of the monsters from 4e or just simplify that. I loved the way how bullets could pass under you burrowing and drop you prone with the tremor, just for after ressurface in a burst of damaging peebles and earth. Or the way a...

D&D 5E (2014) How will the Forgotten Realms be handled?

This already happened at the very end of 4th edition. Praised most people, not me. I like the Weave, and I am fine with a goddess of magic, but Mystra is very überpower to me, even for a goddess...I wish that could be handled as Ed did in his home campaign... Mystra was goddess of magic, not...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ressurrection Spells

For the purpose of this discussion, let us assume that there is a maximum age you can live. When you was born, gods decided (for whatever inefable reason up to them) you just could live until your X years old. After this, you died from "old age". It is something analogue to the maximum age...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ressurrection Spells

So, from the Basic Rules, we have the following ressurrection spells: Revivify - Does not bring back old age dead (omitions about undead or about soul free and willing) Raise dead - Brings back people whose soul is free and willing to return, does not work on undead (omitions about old age)...

D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e Basic Set: Things that make you go "what?!"

Dexterity is just important to light and medium armors. Heavy armors do not take Dex on account. And this is intended (Mearls said that in someplace, I cannot find right now).

Interesting... I use the same house rule here :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Custom game elements

No people did more mage specialization schools? I am in a hurry to create an abjurer to my home campaign and would like some thoughts... Or a custom sorcerer until the official one shows up.

D&D 5E (2014) Playtest Packet soon to be removed: ooohhhh!

D&D 5E (2014) Playtest Packet soon to be removed: ooohhhh!

Outdated rules from the last but one packet. However, a few more monsters (such as will o' wisps) in the bestiary.

    D&D 5E (2014) Custom game elements

My custom item creation "feats" are, in truth, proficiencies bounded to the proficiency system. They are a bit more complicated than feats, one subsystem of its own. However, the mega-feats seemed me too much expensive (in terms of character valid choices) to create items, except, of course, if...

    D&D 5E (2014) Custom game elements

One of mine is the Merchant background. You work in caravans or fixed markets and acquired a great experience on the art of buying and selling. Trained Eye (Benefit): You can use an Action to analyze a mundane item (equipment, art object, gem) and to discover its market value without the need...

    D&D 5E (2014) Custom game elements

Out of curiosity, did anyone here already add custom elements (new backgrounds, new feats, new spells) to his/her home campaign? If yes, would mind to share?

D&D 5E (2014) What do we know about The Sundering?

from Candlekeep foruns I learned that Vaasa and Damara are not. TSR removed parts of the Great Glacier to open space to these two nations, which were created to the Bloodstone Pass serie of adventures.

D&D 5E (2014) I'd like to see Next do away with racial stat mods for PC races.

As house rule on our home campaign, we are not using a -1 to another, but putting a maximum of 15 on it. So dwarves never can have a Dexterity greater than 15, for example. The limit of 15 was chosen because it still permits prerequisites for multiclassing.

D&D 5E (2014) What rules would you like to see come back in 5E?

I am not kidding on this one. While I never forbid in my campaigns, I also never really bought the arcane caster dwarf :P

D&D 5E (2014) How They Should Do Feats

Maybe is just here on my home campaign, but we started from 1st level, the players are currently at 8th and NO ONE of them even considered stat boosts. Everyone got feats.

D&D 5E (2014) Crystal Shard Encounters (Spoilers) (Duh)

The collapsing tunnel on the Next statistics has 4e statistics instead. Some revisor did not perceive that ;)
