D&D 5E (2014) With the release of each new setting book, the SCAG looks worse and worse...

This. I don't mind that it is this thin for the area, but give us other areas as well!

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Which is why I am not surprised. I was still hoping that there was a chance of it getting an emergency/dire situations only approval, though.

I agree with you. My heart hurts for the people that live there.

    D&D 5E (2014) Downtime Rules - loads of fun!

We aren't as structured as you, but each player has to say what their plans are for the day in turn. Some of those activities end up being good story hooks, some just lead to a couple of sentences and better gear. One thing I have done, though, is say that after each adventure, they earn 10 days...

    D&D 3.x Jewish magic items?

Not necessarily Jewish "items," but have you thought of playing with some of the King Solomon myths? There is a lot of parlying with demons in them.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

It doesn't surprise me, but it does sadden me that this got rejected so quickly. Even if it wasn't THE fix, I was hoping it might have been a sometimes/right situation fix.

D&D 5E (2014) Running High Level 5E is more fun than I thought it would be.

My plan is to have them travel to other planes in order to finish their long-term quest.

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing "Hoard of the Dragon Queen" (Practical stuff to try at your table!)

Question: How long do you plan to stay around Greenest? The campaign has you just surviving the dragon attack and going to the raiders' camp twice before leaving for good. Unless you are changing that for your campaign, I would make sure your players know this is just the starting point.

    D&D General Easter and D&D

So my son tried (unsuccessfully) to shoot the kobold "bunny," but had no issue at all with accepting the healing potions. Interestingly enough, however, no mention was made of sharing them with the newcomers when they arrived a few minutes later. I had purposefully timed the delivery before they...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

Today, a kobold "bunny" came hopping by our encampment and dropped off a basket of healing potions. Our dwarf tried to kill it (and missed) but had no problem accepting the potions. Since we had an almost total wipe yesterday, we had a couple of drow bounty hunters join us, along with a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Next session a character might die. Am I being a jerk?

Exactly. They could have written them like drow or duergar -- or even half-orcs.

    D&D 5E (2014) Next session a character might die. Am I being a jerk?

My daughter just rolled up two drow characters. For right now, I am letting her skate a bit on the "usually evil" bit, but she at least has them earning their living somewhat in society's underworld. As the campaign goes on, though, I am going to engineer situations that at least make her...

    D&D 5E (2014) Next session a character might die. Am I being a jerk?

I killed BOTH of my daughter's characters today, and my husband's only lived because we have to make special rules for him if we ever want him to play (one of said rules is that he can pretty much appear or disappear wherever and whenever -- not teleporting, but being absent and then present)...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

We almost had a TPK. I somehow managed to kill the last of the bad guys, but all but one other character was killed -- and he was left unconscious. I paid some hunters to help me drag my unconscious friend (and the one who magically resurrects after a long rest) to our campsite and make a pyre...

    The Logic of Panic Buying

Some sourdough recipes call for that, but that is only once you have the starter to begin with. If you need to start completely from scratch, starter takes about 5 days -- and that isn't counting the bread itself.

    The Logic of Panic Buying

Where I live, they have placed a limit on bread. I have teenagers. Even if I can get enough bread for the day (and that is iffy) I would have to go back to the store every day if I didn't bake it myself. Plus, I am a darned good baker and the bread I bake is much better than what you can buy at...
