    D&D 5E (2014) [Poll] Bard Satisfaction Survey

I was not a fan of the Bard until 5e. They are now a fantastic class. I've seen a Lore Bard all the way up to level 18, and I am currently in game with a Valor Bard. They have so much versatility now without compromising too much (ie Jack of all trades, master of none). Vicious mockery also...

Unearthed Arcana WotC's Mearls Presents A New XP System For 5E In August's Unearthed Arcana

That doesn't mean the system is stupid. It's not that binary. It just means it needs some tweaks here and there. It is UA after all. Basically you're constructing a straw man argument, because in reality no DM would award XP for chickens. 5e isn't a RAW rule set. Sent from my iPhone using EN...

    D&D 5E (2014) [poll] Barbarian Satisfaction Survey

Heh yeah immunity to fear was definitely handy for the Barbarian in our Tyranny of Dragons campaign.

D&D 5E (2014) Tempest Cleric seems VERY strong

Light Domain Cleric feels like a bit of Wizard and a bit of Cleric at the same time, and potent cantrip damage really adds up after a while. Their flare ability is also actually quite good. Having access to Wall of Fire and Fireball as well are very very good. There's tons of blasting to do in...

D&D 5E (2014) Tempest Cleric seems VERY strong

Tempest Cleric is pretty good, but Light Cleric is also damn good. Potent cantrips plus fireballs. I find though with Clerics that rely on melee damage that your damage curve flattens quite a bit at the later levels compared to other characters, and it's hard justifying the investment as...

    D&D 5E (2014) [poll] Barbarian Satisfaction Survey

We had a Berserker Barbarian with us in Tyranny of Dragons up to about level 11. The exhaustion thing wasn't too bad really, as he'd generally save frenzy for those big fights where we could rest afterwards. And boy was he a damage machine.

    D&D 5E (2014) Healing 101

We're switching to this system for our new campaign which starts today. And lingering wounds if you drop to zero.

D&D 5E (2014) What resources do you track in play?

Here's a screenshot of some of the things we track:

D&D 5E (2014) 3 Years Later: D&D's total Domination on Amazon (and Earth in General)

Absolutely, Twitch/YouTube and a bit of a revival of geek culture is really helping the D&D brand get out there at the moment. Some of these channels are getting millions of views. None of this would be possible though without a more streamlined set of rules, that's more theatrics friendly...

D&D 5E (2014) 3 Years Later: D&D's total Domination on Amazon (and Earth in General)

My anecdotal evidence for how well D&D is doing is by how easy it is to find players. Lots of new players as well, and young players. Even now it's very easy to fill the ranks of players compared to when 5e launched.

D&D 5E (2014) A mechanical solution to the problem with rests

I don't think 5e needs mechanics to dictate the pacing or class balance any more than it has already. I am happy with the DM and the story determining when to rest, not mechanics. And after decades of 3rd Edition, 4th Edition, and loads of MMO computer gaming it did take me a while to make peace...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to build a better player

This list makes me simultaneously miss and not miss real life sessions as opposed to virtual ones.

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Evocation Wizard better at being a damage Sorcerer than a Sorcerer?

AOEs are very useful most of the time in my experience - more so in 5e due to bounded accuracy. Lower level monsters are still effective in a higher level fight. I've even had CR1/2 skeleton archers do a fair bit of damage to a level 17 melee character as he huffed and puffed around a big open...

    D&D 5E (2014) I played a game of Classic D&D.

I've killed two PC's running Princes of the Apocalypse with dice rolls all in the open, without trying (in other words, I am not a DM vs Player type of DM). They were also both around level 6-7 at the time. One of them got resurrected - the other they couldn't get his body back and died...

D&D 5E (2014) Are You Planning on Subscribing to D&D Beyond

My monsters manual is falling apart, and it's too much of a hassle to get it replaced. I will definitely repurchase the monsters manual for a cheaper price within the first seven days. I might also get a PHB as well. Much cheaper than buying the books outside the US this way - which are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Building a better Paladin

Your maths is flawed for a number of reasons. You can't just assume the Fighter gets GWM and the Paladin doesn't "because it benefits action surge directly", you're not factoring in to hit bonuses effects on average DPR, you're not factoring in the Paladins ability to get advantage 1/short rest...

    D&D 5E (2014) Building a better Paladin

Lol why are you comparing Level 17 characters against each other when 90% of games will never get there, and Fighters get a nice huge boost at that level to their DPR due to multiple action surges. Also Paladins can use GWM for -5/+10 as well quite easily don't forget, and their damage output...

    D&D 5E (2014) Building a better Paladin

Having DM'd for a couple of different Paladins now from level 1-18, they're definitely the most consistently powerful class in the game. Probably the best class in the game across all levels. I also would tone down their smite a bit - perhaps 1/turn - because they can burst damage way higher...

    D&D 5E (2014) Do you play on a grid?

We use a grid and roll20 plus dynamic lighting for vision. We use the old 3.5 rules for determining if something has cover. I love my grids. Way back in 2E we used to get out hero quest minis and a ruler. I don't think I could ever play THOTM. Sent from my iPhone using EN World
