Is the original Tomb of Horrors a well-designed adventure module?

The Tomb of Horrors is not for everyone. My 2 cents is that adventures these days are meant for characters to live through, while the Tomb is a PC killer at its best. The Tomb is also from the era where D&D was a Roll-Playing Game, not a Role-Playing Game.

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

I don't think it's odd. It's just not the same play style as running a canned adventure. I find what you guys did when the game was young very interesting. Do you use the same format when running tourny adventures?

I share his pain. ;) And now for something completely different. I was looking at Rob Kuntz’s auction of the Castle Greyhawk Bottle City Level original manuscript. (I froze the page if anyone wants to look at it, Click here.) The map is huge and there are only eight pages for its write up...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Good to know. I guess what's I'm getting at is this. I've read the original Castle Greyhawk had all kinds of weird stuff in it. A museum from "another age," a bowling alley for 20’ tall giants, the Machine Level, the Bottle City, plus the gates to the EX modules and Isle of the Ape. I've also...

What causes boredom in a game session?

I've actually fallen asleep in a game before. I find large parties, say 6+ PCs tend to get boring for me. I almost always play a wizard in large parties, so I stay to the rear at low levels wich leaves very little to do.

do you know what you just saved against?

I'd say it also depends on the DM too. Some I've played with give you no clue, while others are most informative.

    D&D Programs

Are there any programs around to generate towns and stat blocks and stuff like that? Just wondering. I'm DMing for the first time since 3e came you and am just looking for stuff to help the drudge work. I want 3.5 stuff, not 3.0. Thanks for any help. :D

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

No. The original Basic D&D was a blue soft-cover book with a Dragon on the front w/ a wizard and warrior facing it. You can go here "http://www.acaeum.com/DDIndexes/SetPages/Basic.html" for more information on the basic sets. :D

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Re: The Neverending Thread. . . Same thing with me. I don't know any role-players that are wargamers, other than myself that is. That's harsh. Why was T$R so scared of you? They seize your notes. They sue you for the Dangerous Journey system? What was wrong with these people that they were...

Many, but not all. Some of us actually know what we're doing. I realize 3e has a wee bit to many rules. I met a 3e "rulez" lawyer the other day, he made me cringe. The way thins guy stroked the rules was insane. He got things done, but it just seemed "unclean" to do things to get an...
