Elven Accuracy Samurai Archer vs Xbow master battlemaster analysis.

The Tank that stands in front of the archer and keeps the enemies off him so he can shoot.

If it was just a bonus action like Smite spells then it would be ok.

[5e] Rakshasas cannot be counterspelled (mostly)? Is that how you would play it

That’s the issue. The answer is sometimes, but your groups counter spelling ability is limited by spell slots also, and once you fail one time with a Rakshasa you would stop doing it. It can really only affect one attempt unless players are obtuse and unaware.

Is using a familiar in combat to grant advantage a common tactic?

Yes it is. It’s tougher then you think, the familiar gets it own place in initiative, there is a timing issue.

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

While that is RAW, I wouldn't allow a staff to be used one handed in game, its CHEESE factor is very high. If you allow that because its official, then you should also take your mount into every dungeon that has a large creature and use lance for d12 damage as has been suggested on the forums...

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

What he means is all reaction attacks require your DM to provoke the attack. Some won’t, they have their monsters somehow “know” you have a reach attack ready. This is less of an issue as you level up as more creatures will just be bigger then you and so won’t have to provoke an attack or just...

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

The changes to Shield Master did not make it into any official publication, just his twitter feed and a Sage Advice. I would not change it from how it was before, it just reduces options for the players, play it as JC intended and few people would take it.

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

BTW an advantage of using a d10 pole-arm like a halberd and taking GW fighter at second level is it allows you to ask DM to use a d12 instead of a d10 with the re-roll feature. The average damage is identical and you get to use the d12 that comes with every dice set and you don’t waste time on...

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

    1. Sure but don’t need to. 2. It would but see 1. Above 3. Shield and board would be interesting while flying since you can use Shield Mastery feat while flying to prone other flying creatures which causes them to fall. Or shove riders off the creatures they are flying on top of to make...

D&D 5E (2014) Why does no one play Goliath?

For Goliath (and others day with powerful build) I let them increase weapon damage by one die size once they5 make the effort to get custom made weapons. I also count them as one size larger, so a Goliath Shield Master can prone huge creatures. If someone plays a Goliath I also guarantee I...

D&D 5E (2014) Illumination Cantrips Compared and Analyzed

Light is a touch spell, so your familiar can deliver it. The owl in the night can fly by the enemy and touch something near them and light them all up. This way the enemy doesn’t see the light coming their direction. They probably wouldn’t suspect a stealthy owl caused the illumination.

Wrong, this is the correct forum. Optimization of the numbers on your sheet is maybe %20 of optimization of your PC, how to interface your PC with your groups needs and how to play at the table to maximize your effectiveness is the other %80.

D&D 5E (2014) Age of Worms Adventure Path

AoW is tougher then any published adventures as published adventures are meant to be fleshed out but few really do it, AoW is already fleshed out.

    How serious is your d&d?

This is also correct. How about forced sex change through a magical trap like in Tomb of Horrors? Serious and silly with long term fame effects. Or having the only way to compete a task is losing a body part that can’t be restored, even by a Wish? I had one in an older edition where you were...

    How serious is your d&d?

How serious is your d&d? Serious 70-80, silly rest. Main group is all veterans with years upon years of gaming, so we follow all the rules and apply real world physics and rules questions are “common sensed” out. Very little hand waving of stuff. Die rolls are open and death rate is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

MooreVol has it right. With a huge range you should cast it before the session and tell DM about it and then recover it normally. You should always know everything within a large area, 30’ per round for an hour is a big space. Going to the dungeon you can usually get in a few encounters and...
