    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Arcane eye should be cast every day. Others also, it’s very much a planned class where you should be casting stuff before session even starts.

    D&D 5E (2014) Cleric Challenged of Helm

[emoji817] Today though players think everything is a restriction. For example, I use variant encumbrance because without it powerful build trait, mithral, dwarf armor trait, portable hole, bag of holding, boots of Striding and Springing, etc all lose value or are worthless. The STR dump...

Do you want Greyhawk updated to 5e?

Yes. Own all Greyhawk, play it all. Playing Age of Worms now with kids, when done they will be Lvl 21 + (or dead) and be rulers of Redhand in Bandit Kingdoms and will move on to realm play.

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

At the levels you are discussing you are chasing a few points of damage vs creatures that will have hundreds. It’s like the people that weigh oranges when they are 3 for $1 trying to get the 3 heaviest ones. There are more important things to think about in prep for the table, like how to...

D&D 5E (2014) Age of Worms Adventure Path

Hah, I played it different. I had everybody apart and then Badlands revenge charge the PCs (double move for 60’) and the dervishes charge them also, on horses they get there in one turn. This creates a fur ball, with the elves shooting into it.

D&D 5E (2014) Age of Worms Adventure Path

You don’t need Rakanian, but Warlord seems appropriate. I am going to use magic weapons to up the challenge. I will give the players the equipment from Pitch Blade if they demand it as compensation for blatant rules violation if the RP well. Instead of badger I will use a dire tiger or...

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

Why do you care? The actual difference isn’t worth worrying about but how you RP the whole thing is. Do you move with the speed of your God or Lay the Pimp Hand of righteousness on them. Don’t chase a small number you can’t catch.

Things your table should do, but doesn't do- The Fun v. Efficiency Thread

Summoning and pets - if you don't have a creature card ready the spell fails, and no you cant play from the book for you pet or summons - make some effort. For summons I do require you to roll for HP for each summons as you summon it, as it is a random creature of its type. This is usually...

What is your way for doing Initiative?

Actually as far as monster initiative I never tell the PCs what the monsters rolled, they have to track it on their own. If have a bunch of creatures I don't even roll sometimes, I just spread them out throughout the combat

    Making a Formal Party Charter

It can only make your game better and form a closer knit group. RP is half the game

What is your way for doing Initiative?

Read the system again. You have to choose all your actions first and then roll all the dice and then do everything all at once when your turn comes, but in any order you want. If you don’t plan ahead, which takes time as reflected in your dice rolls, then you wasted your turn. Rarely do you...

What is your way for doing Initiative?

Sure. I decide to attack with a d8 weapon at a target standing next to me. I roll a d8 to see if I beat the monster. The DM rolls a d8 and a d6 for the monster to move and attack. If I beat the monster I attack without problems. If the monster beats me and it moves away to attack some one...

What is your way for doing Initiative?

That is does. That's also the reason why I don't like gish builds for most players. Mostly gish builds are born out of "I cant stand not being the spotlight so I need to do everything" as opposed to a cool PC concept. Same thing happened to Warlords in 4e, too many people took the pc role of...

What is your way for doing Initiative?

I thought about letting people without an action roll a d6 and I didn’t like it. PC will attempt to game it, never rolling to move in hopes of going early and then getting bailed out if it didn’t work. You have to be smart and decide what is best. Making your players decisions is what makes...

What is your way for doing Initiative?

In actual use its very fast. It takes an encounter to get used then it just flies along. It actually helps move the whole combat faster as players actually have to interact as a team. I used to use a chess timer to keep combat moving along anyway, now I just push them along. Tactics...

Do you let Eldritch Knight or Clerics cast while using a (real) shield?

Actually they fly along as I have smart, active players who care about the game and writing their part in a bigger story and having a good time as opposed to lazy, disengaged people who just sit on boards complaining that everything including following rules is too hard for them do but they...

Do you let Eldritch Knight or Clerics cast while using a (real) shield?

🤣 The same DM who let a player craft a shield he wanted from an ankheg shell, probably with some special ability, is now a douche because the crafter forgot something and had to play 1 whole encounter working around it? I never heard anything like that being declared as poor DMing for 40 years...

Do you let Eldritch Knight or Clerics cast while using a (real) shield?

Only if they say they took the time and effort to do so. If that’s too much work and memory in your game, well...
