    Sleep & Unconsciousness

The level 9 rogue attack Knockout renders the target unconscious if you hit. It does not have the Sleep keyword in its description. The level 1 wizard attack Sleep renders the targets unconscious, but also has the Sleep keyword in its description. The rules for sleeping on page 263 says you...

KotS -- built for 5 PCs?

I've DMed several encounters so far for 4 PCs. I've dropped at least one PC in each. We've stopped just at the cave entrance to Irontooth's lair (breaking for Origins). Those earlier encounters were pretty intense, so I'm also a bit worried about the Irontooth encounter. For help in adjusting...

    4e Cosmology Changes

The new cosmology is VERY similar to how I've had things in my homebrew. Such a set up makes it easier to have actual adventures in the other planes, so I like the changes.

    Sleep?

Well, there is the rule on page 263 of the PH about waking a sleeping character - damage, shaking or making noises (perception at a -5 penalty) will do it. Furthermore, the power has the 'Sleep' keyword.

Preorderers: How much did the giftset REALLY cost?

Thanks for the info! I tried this with the coupon, and will be getting it for 8 bucks cheaper ($54.47), and hopefully a few days ealier! By the way, the BN site says the coupon expires June 6, not May 27, as Dealigg states. Nifty! Thanks, FM

Okay, where do you stand on diagonal movement?

I voted other. I personally don't care, but will go with whatever rules edition I'm playing calls for. If I have a player that complains in a future 4E game I run, I'll instruct hime to multiply his character's speed by 10. Diagonal movement costs 14 points, non-diagonal cost 10. :P

    craft as non-magic "ritual"

I have been plannng on giving characters a number of background options - basically stuff that 4E has removed from prior editions (or D&D never had), but which I'm still interested in dealing with in my world. Crafting has always been one of the options I've wanted to offer. I've even...

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what a Martial Controller would look like?

{a bit of thread necromancy, but ... } Hey, the Goblin Picador is a martial controller! http://www.critical-hits.com/2008/02/29/want-to-play-4e-dd-tonight/ Here's hoping they'll explore the idea more and develop a full fledged class. This has me kind of excited. ;) FM

    Your First Character? (with crunch)

Yet another person likey to be DM first, but I love to try out an Elven Ranger/Wizard. He'd focus on ranged combat and utility spells. Sort of scholarly explorer, Indaian Jones style. May even consider CON as a dump stat, too, just to add emphasis on avoiding melee.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what a Martial Controller would look like?

In my mind, a martial controller would be a combination archer, alchemist and trap making expert. Imagine an alchemist who can take the off-the-shelf tanglefoot bag, adds some of his own special ingredients, and uses a modified crossbow-like device to fling the package into the mob of goblins...

What would you like to see brought back from older editions?

Most of what I'd want has been mentioned: * Strongholds for PCs * Kara-Tur for Oriental Campaigns * Background skills (perhaps "siloed" skills - everyone gets background, RP and combat skills) * Customized Artifact Powers * Quirky Spells (expanding fireballs and bouncing lightning bolts...

Please Place Your Tinfoil Hat Snugly Onto Your Head

Yeah, I'll add my voice to this eerie chorus. My homebrew has an alternate cosmology, including a faerie realm, the shadow plane, and a single elemental realm, as well as fallen celestials.

    Double Weapons: Scrap or keep?

If the designers can develop the rules to make them as effective as some other styles, I say keep them. Each DM can decide if they fit his/her campaign. If not, don't waste the space in the PHB until they've had the time to think about it. Publish the rules in a later suppliment.

Familiars and Animal Companions. Should they stay?

If given the chance, I like playing familiars like this. However, my current DM really frowns on this use of them, so I haven't bothered. Therefore, I'd like having a familiar to be an option, not a built in feature. And, yeah, they should be more viable. For one, replacing or upgrading them...

Is the Warlock going to kill the sorcerer and take his stuff?

Sorcerers had unique access to some of the heritage feats - draconic, celestial, infernal. But the Fey and Fiendish heritage feats shows how anyone could have 'em. Some cool ideas but too expensive considering the lack of feats the class gets. Developing something similar for the warlock would...

D&D 4E Do you think WotC rebooting Forgotten Realms for 4e would be a good idea?

As a likely migrant from Living Greyhawk to Living Forgotten Realms, I like the reboot ideas I've seen so far. Hmm, let's see... Killing Greyhawk, Plagueing FR - What'll happen to Eberron?!?

    Do you play online D&D?

I've been playing the RPGA's Living Greyhawk via OpenRPG (VTT), and frequently with Ventilo (voice chat) at the same time. It's pretty awesome that I can play the same character online and face-to-face at conventions.

    "Flipping" saves to attacks

As the designated "Schleprock" of my group, I couldn't agree more. There's a lot more riding on that one roll. Let's hope the designers recognize the problem and adjust.

An elegant solution to unfun combat healing

These are some awesome ideas. However, it also seems that the basic assumptions of the game would be strained, and probably a lot of work to adjust. Encounter balance seems to be dependent upon speedy casting by a dedicated healer. Though, putting in the effort designing a new edition...
