What videogames are you playing in 2025?

After a long break from video games I’ve started playing Rogue Trader, lots of fun! Exterminatus!

How do you use the "Trivia" ability?

I fine Common Knowledge and such useful when players MIGHT have picked up snippets of info, but it’s not at the top of their head, like about a space station in the region that they haven’t visit. The better the roll, the more info and details.

Necessity of a Social Negotiation System? – When Should It Be Relevant?

I GM all social stuff so that rolls have some impact, but roleplaying is the major deciding factor. It works at my table.

How Would Your Favorite Game System Handle This?

In how I GM Savage Worlds it would be all skill rolls and roleplaying, except for the social stuff where I let the roleplay heavily impact target numbers, we love some actual fasttalk at our table. The Heavy will be occupied with roleplaying, perhaps to the point where I make him roll to not...

    Trash TV Secret Shame

Tiger king is thrashy but with such sky high entertainment value it almost become quality, in some kind of postmodern twist.

Which game books most inspire the "sense of wonder" in you?

Now I’m old and jaded, but I still treasure the massive rush of SOW I got from Runequest 2e and its fantastic supplements.

    Trash TV Secret Shame

I sometime mess up my YT algorithms by minor binging US gun nut stuff, like Demolition Ranch and such. To me as a northern European that stuff is insane, almost surreal.

    Trash TV Secret Shame

No, but I forgot to mention in my post that I use Jackass and the British variant Dirty Sanches like comfort food. So stupid, so thrashy, so entertaining.

    Trash TV Secret Shame

I love grimdark RPGs. I am also a sucker for the various TV series versions of Anne of the Green Gables. Just can’t help it, it’s like a palate cleanser from our messed up and dying real world.

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

Thanks! Well, keyboard and mouse is superior, but the iPad ports are surprisingly playable. It just slow down the gameplay a bit, which is fine in my situation.

D&D General Matt Colville on the “Forever DM”

Matt often has interesting things to say, but I just can’t stand his forced voice and manners.

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

I’m currently on a drawn out hospital stay to fix my heart and get a pacemaker. So I’m replaying the old Baldurs Gate games on my iPad. Good stuff that are kind to the blood pressure 😄

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

I agree, but I’m happy to pass the role of dedicated magic damage dealer to one of the other full caster classes.

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

I’m fine with the wizard being mainly a controller and utility dude, like in many other d20 systems.

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

I haven’t been a player since the 80ies, it’s simply not fun to me.

D&D General Should Gnomes be Tiny

This. Since every PC is the same in 5e - 30’ move, no race limit for stats etc - this would raw allow an all Smurf party 😍

    GMing without an inner monologue.

Is it now we start up the Sapir-Whorf vs Chomsky fight? 😀

What are you reading in 2025?

Doing a quick sidestep from my planned reading with a re-read of Paul Austers New York trilogy. Still incredibly good!

    Old School Essentials

I only own Hole and Incandescent of the adventures, but to me they are masterclasses of how commercial adventures should be written and structured, with almost zero unnecessary fat. They are probably the most zero prep of any adventures I've read. Now, I'm a 99% home-brew GM, but the OSE...
