    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

TYPO: The quick description of Lightning Bolt lists +1d8 with each spell level, but it should be +1d6.

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

The spreadsheet contains all of the spell text (not just the names of spells) from the _PHB_ and _Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide_. Spell names could be argued to be fair use, but not 75 or so pages of full text. The short spell summaries that are used on the printed sheets would also seemingly...

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

I'm a big fan of the tool, but I'm concerned that it may disappear at some point due to copyright infringement. Of course, I don't know how WotC feels about it, but other 5e character tools have disappeared allegedly for that reason. The infringement that I would think goes too far is the...

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

I'm not the OP, but I always need to take off my glasses to read the spellcasting sheet. I haven't tried, but I should try printing that sheet in landscape.

I had the same problem using Excel 2007 on Windows.

Totally agree! I take off my glasses and hold the printed sheet close to my face anytime I have to look at anything that is not a large number. On the other hand, I appreciate the layout and small number of sheets, so just auto-sizing to the allocated field would be wonderful.

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

I'm under the impression that the Unearthed Arcana columns are just being put out there essentially as optional rules, in much the same way that the races from the DMG were. Where did you see that they're "highly volatile" and would be released officially at some point? I'd love to see that...

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

Yes, that is exactly what I'm referring to. The first is the Start page, "SUBCLASS", "Sorcerous Origin". The second is Spellcasting sheet, "SORCERER METAMAGICS", "3rd". I'm using Excel 2007, and tried it both with a transferred character from an earlier version and from starting a new...

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

1.45 possible bug: Sorcerer Origin Dragon Magic, selected Blue, but on Character Summary page it says "Damage Type: ()"; perhaps that is intended to only fill in at level 6.

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

1.45 bug report: Sorcerer character does not have Metamagic choices highlighted (previously reported fix, but still exists). Sorcerer character does not have Sorcerous Origin highlighted (unsure if this existed previously). As always, this is a wonderful tool.

1.42 bug report: A 3rd level Sorcerer should have its two Metamagic choices highlighted.

    D&D 4E Tyrannosaurus Rex in 4e?

There is a T. Rex in the third or so Lair Assault module.

Dad's memories, "What is that adventure?"

I also played the series of ???, G1-3, D1-3, Q1 from around 1980 to 1983, and I also can't remember how it started. I definetly remember bits and pieces from the Gs, Ds, and Q1, though. Sadly, my 9th level Human Paladin (Mir) died when rushing into a battle that everyone else retreated from...

Cool things that players do for their GMs?

Crit-mas I will get them a Crit-mas gift, typically a gift certificate to the store that we play at.

    Lair Assault: Kill the Wizard

We already dealt with the Pixie Music Box in the previous dino-based Lair Assault. In this Lair Assault, there are 5 creatures of interest, and I'd say that only 2 of them would be potentially susceptible to the Music Box. As with the previous Lair Assault, the DM needs to take into account...

    Lair Assault: Kill the Wizard

We made our third attempt today and still haven't beaten it. At least this time, three out of five of us made to to the final room. The first encounter is reasonably straight-forward with the right skill (probably assisted by a magic item). The second encounter has just proven too difficult...

    Lair Assault: Kill the Wizard

We played the latest Lair Assault yesterday, and it's the second-best yet (after the first one). It's 8th level and the only limitation is that you have to be a Drow or Drow Revenant (although a case can be made for allowing a Drow Changling). It's still the first week of play, so I won't be...

    Races You Always/Never Use

One race that I've wanted to play but haven't (though I could see it being useful for a Lair Assault or somesuch) is a Kobold, though the "official" race's shifty power is much lamer than the "unofficial" one. Pixies have become popular in our Lair Assault outings, and there's two of them in my...

    Races You Always/Never Use

Any word on whether that race is in D&D Next? :)

    Races You Always/Never Use

Most of the time, I'll play a Warforged -- the backstory just appeals to me (and I also tend to play defenders, often a flavor of Warden). The Genasi also appeal to me, but I've never actually played one.
