I have a couple random bandit/orc/thug encounters that I can drop about anywhere to use when things slow down. I try to keep them for the level and just add more monsters if the PCs become too powerful, so now they fight 50 bandits instead of just 6.

I think a lot of people on this site will say 5e let them down since it is not Dark Sun or Birthright. But D&D is supposed to be generic like @payn mentioned above. Each world has its own schtick where the flavor is found.

Asmodeus is in Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (SCAG) P21. I never heard of him there until 5e and have not used him yet. There are so many other gods to use. I think I tend to use only 8-10 of the gods.

Why not a rogue with the aim power that grants advantage? Then you get the sneak attack damage.

I would be in favor of a cool power to add to the monster statblock for each of the pc races. It does not have to include all the things that a pc gets, but something cool that fits.

I think race, class and regions you grow up in affect things more than stats. A strong person might view a lot of situations from using Strength, but if they are an elf or dwarf vs a human might affect this more if they are all strong. Where the PC grows up might value restraint or value...

I kind of see Level UP and Tales of Valiant as D&D/5e. I can play PCs in both games with no problems and there is a lot of overlap to where I would not need to learn hardly anything to play.
