John Kovalic Looks Back On Over Two Decades Of Munchkin

Right, they're waiting to put it up once all the backers get theirs. There were many complaints raised on Backerkit when the Big Boxes started appearing in the wild before the backers got them. So SJG pulled store front boxes for the time being, or in the case of Amazon stopped shipping more to...

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

The Hobbit was read to us in a class back in 1970, setting my interest in fantasy and science fiction and opening worlds of wonder from then on. My step mother took me to a game shop back in 1978 and that was all she wrote... gaming was a part of my life from that time on.

John Kovalic Looks Back On Over Two Decades Of Munchkin

Love the style of art John Kovalic does, simply awesome. I hope he continues to draw the cards for years to come. Part of the fun of Munchkin is definitely due to John Kovalic's art style. Kinda off topic but since it was mentioned in the article... I'm always confused when folks mention not...

John Kovalic Looks Back On Over Two Decades Of Munchkin

I also went all in on it and wasn't truly happy with the actual box this time around. It felt flimsy and thin to my wife and I in comparison to past boxes for their games. This big box was after all meant to be a holder of cards and reused, so to find the walls so thin didn't sit well with us...

Farewell To Arms Wages World War Borg

Hmm, that's too bad. If I can't get the pdf as well, even if I have to pay for it I tend to nope out. I like to read pdfs on tablet and use the books at the table. Plus having the pdfs makes printing up maps and sections needed at the table much much easier than scanning into pdf and printing as...

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

That, I get and embrace, always have. What I don't get is how the other poster worded some of what they said, which felt attacking( in a badwrongfun sort of way) in tone. (Shrug) Shortcomings of conversations of a text medium, things get missed.

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

So, humanocentrism is bad and Anthropomorphism is desired? I swear, it feels like we are trying to make having fun while playing ttrpgs as difficult as possible. In other words, sucking all the fun out of gaming.

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

Heh! Gotcha. I played a assassin/Illusionist gnome back in a grimmer AD&D 1st edition campaign while stationed in Europe. He was a hoot to play. There were two other gnomes in the party and we played them a brothers. Definitely fun when I got to be a player versus the usual forever GM.

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

Can you define what "1e Tolkienism" means? Never heard it and my mind is coming up a maiar, a hobbit and some dwarves in the case of the Hobbit. In the Trilogy you have a Maiar, an elf, an dwarf, four hobbits and two humans (well one is part elf, maiar and human... distantly). So yep, I'm...

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

Cartoony anime style just doesn't do it for me. Barovia should be darker and more gothic in feel and look. I have the same issue with what I see posted art wise with Cyberpunk Red. It doesn't feel like the dark, dingy cyberpunk I read decades ago. Basically art like this takes me out of the...

Tomb Raider RPG Cancelled For Creative Differences

Can't say that I'm unhappy about this. Not a fan of the system myself. I think that there are better mechanics systems out there for Tomb Raider.
