    Dragon Reflections #85

Strongly agree. Palladium Games/Kevin Siembieda has always had a problem with game balance, which only got worse as time went. Also they needed to higher a professional editor to aid them in improving their layout, indexing etc.

    Dragon Reflections #85

First edition Palladium Fantasy Rpg was a lot of fun. No less of a mess than original D&D or 1st edition AD&D in my opinion. It released in 1983 and I ended up taking it to Europe where I spent the next ten years stationed. It was actually my go to ttrpg system until GURPS released in 1986.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

Yeah, and the work he and The Doctors did on mmorpg Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic was really lacking at the time of release. They wouldn't listen to feedback before the release, during and after. All three ended up leaving Bioware with The Doctor's basically retiring in a public...

The Wizard May Be Weird But The Game Is Great

In SotDL, my reactions pretty much always felt meaningful. So I'm not following this at all. Oh and I actually prefered the SoTDL as well. Which is why I am glad that these options are still in the SotWW.

The Wizard May Be Weird But The Game Is Great

Sadly, that's the most common issue with anything other than D&D these days. Back in the mid/late 1970s and up into the 1990s I didn't tend to run into that myself. I ran across a wide swath of U.S. player due to being military and it just wasn't a problem to get people to try other systems...

The Wizard May Be Weird But The Game Is Great

I'm a big fan of SotDL, I read the earlier versions (Beta) of SotWW and thought it wasn't for me and I'd stick with SotDL. That said, since the options from SotDL are in SotWW as options, I'll snag it to add to the library because Schwalb does amazing work and one could use SotWW for your own...

RPG Print News – Melsonian Arts Council, Chaosium, and More

I'm hoping that they'll do a 2nd edition Shadowrun reprint. I still feel to this day that 1st/2nd edition Shadowrun was a much better ttrpg experience than the recent couple of editions. (shudder)

    Worlds of Design: Combat Methods

I've always looked at Rolemaster & MERP as sort of hybrid ttrpgs. There are a few out there that would fall within both spheres like Rolemaster/MERP do. I also think that HERO system shares the same "feet in both camps" definition as well.

    Worlds of Design: Combat Methods

Yup, those definitions make sense. Which follows why I prefer systems like GURPS & RuneQuest/BRP/Mythras etc.

Steve Jackson Games Releases Stakeholder Report for 2023

In my opinion SJG just doesn't know what to do or where to go and how to market it and it's felt that way since the mid to late 1990s. I also felt it was an error on Steve's part to pass on the Fallout crpg using GURPs. Ah well, I dislike seeing them do poorly.

D&D 5E (2014) Meet Some of the 40+ Multiversal Monsters In Vecna: Eve of Ruin

Definitely not a big fan of the art style in the more recent books. Stylistically it just feels lesser, less interesting. It's a style, just not one I care for. I can get over that easily since the meat for me is always what's written where as the art just helped me visualize if the descriptions...

Into The Wyrd And Wild Makes The Woods Weird

Agreed, any book over 200 pages on want PoD. The creator posted back in 2021 on the DriveThruRpg link that one was in the works. After that no posts by the creator listed under the thread. I prefer all my pdf files under one library if possible and since he's got the project listed on...

D&D 5E (2014) There's A Platinum Vecna: Eve of Ruin From Beadle & Grimm This Summer

You mean tchotchkes, right? BTW I had a good chuckle and agree. Edit: Doh, did a search and noted that there are other spellings of that. I Googled it because I started to wonder if it wasn't some other internet slang term that I wasn't up on. New words, acronyms and slang these days crop up...

DDAL D&D Adventurers League Service Rewards

I appreciate that AL exists. It does open up gaming to even more people. So it is a positive gateway into the hobby. Though for me personally I find it lacking and feeling more like playing an mmorpg. If I wanted that, I'd actually play an mmorpg instead.

    Dragonbane Bestiary Release Date Announced

True. I just felt that the poster was listing "old school games" in the overall sort of way and then breaking down the actual lineage of Dragonbane. Reading comprehension failure on my part most likely, a part of getting old combined with a need for a good strong cup of coffee. heh

    Dragonbane Bestiary Release Date Announced

Yeah, I should have been more clear on my post when I mentioned goblins and the near tkp. Multiple weaker foes in games like BRP/RuneQuest, GURPs etc tend to be more dangerous.
