    D&D 5E (2014) The cost of D&D 5E (it ain't so bad!)

I don't drink. Even if I did, I wouldn't pay restaurant/bar prices. That's where they get you. I would just wait until I got home. I had an 11 oz. steak dinner with two sides this weekend at a restaurant for about $16, after tax and tips. $30-35 is reasonable for hardback RPG books these...

    D&D 5E (2014) Art in 5e...?

Okay, does anyone have a link to a larger version of the picture?

    D&D 5E (2014) The cost of D&D 5E (it ain't so bad!)

I don't think I have ever spent that much money for a single night's entertainment for two people. $50 at most, and half or less of that in general. The real issue is that it's $150 for three hardback books. I can easily afford that, but I still think it's too high for something that it...

asking for help/advice on the most popular RPG genre

You could to go Savage Worlds or Fate and play in any genre you like. The benefit there is that you and your players only need to learn one set of rules.

Which Game Would YOU Choose for Wil Wheaton's Tabletop RPG Spinoff?

If they are using their own system and it isn't for sale, I wouldn't be interested in the show at all. I would really prefer for them to explore different games, like the main show, though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Art in 5e...?

How, exactly? She's not dressed in a particularly provocative way. She's just fighting a monster. You could easily put a male character in her place and not significantly change the image. People are getting far, far too sensitive about all this. You don't hear anybody complaining about the...

    D&D 5E (2014) [Merged] D&D Next/5E Release Schedule Threads

So, spend $20 in July instead of waiting one month to get the full Player's Handbook? What's the point, unless you don't want to plop down $150 for the three main books and are happy to settle for just the starter set?

    Anyone remember Alien Nation?

I enjoyed the original movie and the TV series. I believe it was only salt water that hurt them, but that's problematic, too.

Help with 17th century Europe adventure plots!

I stand corrected. Going back and re-examining things, I was off by a couple of centuries. I wasn't saying that it should be the focus of esoteric things, just that it could be one source of them.

Ring Side Report-RPG Review of Alchemy Manual

$13 for 32 pages is obscene.

Help with 17th century Europe adventure plots!

That's a very interesting idea! I would give it a shot, if I were you. It could make for some very unique situations. There have been a number of documented cases of people dying because they believed in a curse. Psychosomatic symptoms and the placebo effect are both good examples of the...

Help with 17th century Europe adventure plots!

It depends on how historically accurate you want the game to be. There are a lot of things that could easily have existed in that place at time, but didn't, and there are a lot of things that weren't found in that setting that could have been found in other parts of the world at the time...

Ring Side Report-RPG Review of Alchemy Manual

How many pages? Paizo's PDFs tend to be really short for the price you pay. That's why I usually avoid them.

    System for a 'Constantine'-inspired game?

That's a small part of the character (and pretty much the least of his talents), but I'm afraid that is probably what the TV show is going to focus on. The only TV channel that could possibly pull off a decent Constantine series is HBO, and even they would need to stretch their own boundaries...

Help with 17th century Europe adventure plots!

I would start by researching unusual genetic conditions, obscure mental issues, historically accurate poisons, etc. For example, the genetic disease porphyria has been suggested as an influence on werewolf and vampire legends, though that's just a retrospective diagnosis, and hence pure...

Thoughts of a new Star Wars System

Yes, that's generally what I was getting at. They can slap a "Legends" banner on all the EU stuff, but in the end they have chosen to ignore the EU. That really doesn't sit well with me.

Thoughts of a new Star Wars System

That is probably the type of thing I would most want to see. Maybe Fate or some other similar system, even.

D&D 5E (2014) So, what are your plans now?

I voted "other." I didn't bother with the playtest stuff at all. I'll wait until the full game is released, skim-read it in Barnes and Noble, and then decide if I'm going to use it at all. It's going to need to be very impressive and very different from 4e for me to bother with it.
