Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

No. It actually isn't. Defense scaling is so utterly :):):):)ed up in Pathfinder/3.5E that its actually easier to hit stuff as a spellcaster because of the defenses it targets than straight up hitting regular AC. For the most part most of those have so many ways to short circuit them that the...

D&D 5E (2014) Better pics from PAX East

For the most part the technology didn't really exist to make leather at the time most fantasy RPGs take place.

I have. Armor from that time period does look that clunky. It may not be that clunky at all in practice but when one of the major forms of armor from that time period is effectively a giant winter blanket that actually looks like EOD armor you kind of begin to realize that it was clunky.

D&D 5E (2014) Better pics from PAX East

What world are you living in where chunky cumbersome armor isn't realistic? In fact the neck guard armor that is on the guy on the top is actually something that to this day is still used. I've seen modern day armor that actually has one that is even larger than that.

    D&D 5E (2014) Rule of Three: 7 Feb. 2014

Superman regularly beats cosmic magical forces on a regular basis so its probably not a great example to provide. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Superman got turned into a pig and still managed to beat the cosmic magical forces.

Rules heavy = bad; light = good

Its a joke regarding the fact that at one point when they first released it whoever wrote it created a top ten list with twelve entries.

You mean the tracker that for the longest of times couldn't actually count to the number 10????

Gnomes! (HUH) What are they good for? Absolutely nothing!

From a literature perspective the original incarnation of them has more to do with the history of science and toxicology than it does with fantasy literature. They are basically earth elementals.

    Necromancer Games Under Fire?

Its not that. Even if you were to strip RPGs out of that context a lot of his stuff would be incredibly stupid to have posted like flirting on the internet. Though I have to say I'm actually more surprised this hasn't happened more often given the preponderance of incredibly stupid stuff...

Sexism in Table-Top Gaming: My Thoughts On It, and What We Can Do About It

Except as I said earlier the concept of gender and sex historically was never set in this rigid structure. Hell there were entire societies where men and women would fight together on equal terms. Ergo, its pretty sexist to try and justify your entire argument because it has nothing to do with...

Sexism in Table-Top Gaming: My Thoughts On It, and What We Can Do About It

Ehhh... I'm sure that everyone here would be fine with having transgendered characters.

Sexism in Table-Top Gaming: My Thoughts On It, and What We Can Do About It

How much you want to bet that even in campaign settings where it would be completely appropriate like Maztica it is completely absent? From a historical standpoint and not just cherry picking a subset yes it is entirely sexist.

Sexism in Table-Top Gaming: My Thoughts On It, and What We Can Do About It

I hated fantasy for the longest of times and sci-fi wasn't something that I was really ecstatic with. And yet my geeky activities make anything that you guys could ever come up with pale in comparison. Its really one of the annoying things about that term because the only examples that ever...

Sexism in Table-Top Gaming: My Thoughts On It, and What We Can Do About It

I don't think the really is though. At least the most tenuous of connections I can make between all of the geeky activities I've seen in Boston is eccentricity but even that is kind of pushing it. At best its probably a bunch of distinct and completely isolated subcultures that can get lumped...

Sexism in Table-Top Gaming: My Thoughts On It, and What We Can Do About It

That is one of the most blatant no-true scotsman fallacies ever created. By your weird definition some of the most famous geeks around aren't geeks because what they did is universally considered to be cool. Unless you really want to argue that the likes of Grant Imahara, Jamie Hyneman, Limor...

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

A lot of that had to do with some really insane events in the 1980's in which the moral majority played a role in it wasn't the only confounding aspect to it. I'm only pointing that out given that if you are relatively young and from another country you won't have the entire picture.

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

Honestly that wasn't the only part. This quote below kind of confused the ever living hell out of me given that I live in the west and the racial depiction as seen RPG books is not even close to being correct as its all just a bunch of white guys. Admittedly I'm not entirely sure about where...

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

Because its actually flat out racist and offensive to lump in people of all nationalities under the single word of colored or oriental.

D&D 5E (2014) "But Wizards Can Fly, Teleport and Turn People Into Frogs!"

Rope a dope only works through tricking your opponent. Its a huge huge huge gambit but it primarily is psychological in nature.

D&D 5E (2014) "But Wizards Can Fly, Teleport and Turn People Into Frogs!"

No rope a dope was primarily psychological. It basically was a feint that allowed him to draw in Foreman and tire him all the while him being relatively fine. It worked so well that even the sports announcers thought he was going to be killed. EDIT: Also, that is ignoring that Ali was famous...
