D&D 5E (2014) cancelled 5e announcement at Gencon??? Anyone know anything about this?

There are a lot of stupid things in D&D and if you are going to get upset when even the developers admit it then they have a really thin skin. Even I have a hard time not cracking up at some of the idiotic things that have distilled down from previous editions in 4E. Since when is making fun of...

Characters are too vanilla! Let's spice them up!

Honestly, I haven't found it that bit of an issue because as time goes on I'm realizing that a lot of the classes call upon specific archetypes and all I need to do is pick a specific one and be on my merry way. If I want further flavor I pick a character theme and background.

Gencon: Any non-Essentials content coming up?

Actually there have been multiple variants of power strike as powers hanging around for a while. Explain why there are certain stances that would be completely and utterly useless with your interpretation of the rules.

So how does the Bladesinger work?

Actually, once you hit a specific level Magic Missle becomes utterly pointless because eventually the Bladspell powers start popping every single time regardless if you hit or not.

    Is DnD well-balanced?

So what you are saying is that a system which WoTC explicitly and overtly states will unbalance the game unbalances the game.

Could Wizards ACTUALLY make MOST people happy with a new edition?

Its not really about writing style though. Its primairly formatting. I went from 4E to 3E and there seemed to be a drastic jump in how they actually went about communicating information like powers.

So Legends and Lore was just Mearls ruminating?

You mean the fact that its now at a reasonable pace that consumers can keep up with?

Could Wizards ACTUALLY make MOST people happy with a new edition?

I've never actually found Pathfinder all that well written. It seems needlessly wordy though I think that is just a symptom of copying an existing rule set without improving readability. Since when has fantasy art ever been realistic?

    Legends and Lore: Modular Madness

Actually it just sounds like he is talking about 4E and 4E alone. The system actually has evolved in modular steps and it has multiple rule systems in place that can be swapped in and out at will.

D&D 4E What's so bad about 4th edition? What's so good about other systems?

You do realize that its a standard action to do those moves. Typically if a skill can do something that a power can do then the power is always the best choice because you loose your standard action.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

It actually is my playstyle. The problem is that certain classes are so broken in 3E that it can outshine any cooperative aspect. Yeah remember my original claim about turning people away who have never played the game before. You just conceeded the fact that it will confused the hell out of...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

Yeah I would stop trying to draw comparisons to a game in which balance is a really good idea. Lets face it you want to stop people from scoring and score yourself meaning that both the offense and the defense need to operate in a meaningful manner in tandem. Its not really echochambers. Its...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

So you honestly think that having classes which are completely overshadowed and will never really have anything of meaning to contribute included in the Player's Handbook for a game is a solid design choice?

I've looked it up in multiple dictionaries. I'm not only snarky but I'm right.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

Technically, prot and ant are the prexfixes with agonist being the word modified. An agonist was originally a term for competior. That is the base word. An antagonist and protagonist were nothing than competitors in a Greek drama.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

You do realize that terms you would normally use to describe conflict like protagonist and antagonist are actually sports terms. Also, sports are the simplest example of what actually does occur in RPG's. There really isn't all that much different from running a sports game than fighting the...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

Once again I'm not entirely sure if you actually even get the concept of game balance in that you keep on trying to argue how homogeneous it will be. Dude. We used the world's most perfect example of a sports team. The problem is that the points flew right over everyone's head as people...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

4E is as far as possible as from giving out the same characters as you can imagine which ironically is a sign that no one has ever actually played the game. The classes themselves are distinct in that you can have an entire party of the same class and have them operate wildly different...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

The problem with this logic is that while you may not think its important any train of logic that doesn't end with the hobby dying a horrible death due to attrition has to include balanced game mechanics. Its just going to turn people away as they try and adjudicate some form of balance like...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

If you playtest something doesn't that mean you aren't actually using professionals to test the productm which means that errors are going to get through regardless? Its not really a lowering of standards in terms of how much errata gets produced but a raising up of a standards in terms of...
