Level Up (A5E) How compatible are splat book spells

I believe it's a good basis to have in general, but o5e is so horrifically unbalanced and without any true baseline that it leaves a huge question of what are they comparing against? A Monk or Barbarian Subclass built using Paladin as a baseline of power to match would both be 'balanced' in a...

Level Up (A5E) How compatible are splat book spells

Compatible with mechanics does not necessarily mean compatible with balance. WotC at their best wings it and goes "Yeah that sounds cool" as their quality assurance method. Pretty much anything will work, but 'work' doesn't mean it won't undermine the much improved balance in Level Up. In...

Level Up (A5E) Berserker too strong?

Oh absolutely, and that's what I meant by versatility utility. There's a lot they can do in combat, they're incredibly adaptable. I just meant that they aren't fourth rate combatants anymore.

Level Up (A5E) Berserker too strong?

The Out Of Combat vs In Combat balancing point has always been godawful design and seems to be one of the main things A5E sought to end by giving every Class out of combat abilities to meaningfully engage with every portion of the game. Adept has a ton of build versatility being built more like...

Level Up (A5E) Adept - Brutal Defense

Yes, but both Light Armors in the Adventurer's Guide share "Flaw (Piercing)", which means if you're crit on a weapon attack you have ~1/3rd chance of armor breaking immediately mid-combat. I had been speaking with this in mind, not that any crit, just the relevant, piercing crits would break the...

Level Up (A5E) Adept - Brutal Defense

The Adventurer's Guide lists under "Flaw" that "Armors break when you take a critical hit or roll a natural 1 on a Dexterity saving throw". Is there somewhere else that qualifies they only become damaged first? The Armor specifics are like the main thing I find overly fiddly in LU and tend not...

Level Up (A5E) Adept - Brutal Defense

That's not how Broken works in Level Up though. "The bonus to Armor Class is halved (minimum 1)", so you either lose 0 or 1 AC depending on which Light Armor you're using, and you don't lose the bonus from Strength in any case.

Level Up (A5E) Adept - Brutal Defense

One of the key things they wanted to do with Monk -> Adept was to open up different playstyles, Brutal Defense is just a solid way to open up a Strength based Adept to viability without getting MAD. Dex based focus no armor, Str based focus light armor, and then they can ignore the other stat if...

Level Up (A5E) Annihilator sorcerer (Zeitgeist)

Ooh, I really like that Spell List. Good and flavorful damage without relying on the usual Blasty fallbacks.

Level Up (A5E) Annihilator sorcerer (Zeitgeist)

Zeitgeist was largely designed in parallel to the core rules, so it was more rooted in o5e and so did not benefit from the universal Archetypes Spell List that the Adventurer's Guide ended up having. The nitty gritty balance considerations I'm not sure of, but it was a consequence of development...

Level Up (A5E) Steampunkette's Writing Requests

So I'm a HUGE fan of the Soulknife Class Fantasy, even though it's only been done really well by Dreamscarred in PF1, and I know there is gonna be some Soulknife-ish stuff in Voidrunner Codex, but I love the concept of taking something like Soulknife and treating it as a Maneuver Tradition...

Gate Pass Gazette What content do y'all want from Gate Pass Gazette?

I'm not gonna complain at all if I get Soulknife in a SciFi book :D curious to see how they do it though, o5e's Psionic implementation was the barest bones possible and an insult to the very idea of a Dark Sun campaign, looking forward to seeing a good version~

Level Up (A5E) Warlock scythe extra attack

Multiple paths to achieving the same vague goal of "Melee Warlock" is in fact a very good thing! Always better to have 'your' Melee Warlock build rather than 'the' Melee Warlock build :D

Level Up (A5E) New Online Tools Updates

Oh hell yes, been waiting on the errata pass :D

Gate Pass Gazette What is the intention of the Gate Pass Gazette?

As mentioned earlier, the dev time for each is longer than a month, so I doubt we're getting them any earlier now.

Gate Pass Gazette What is the intention of the Gate Pass Gazette?

I know, but my understanding is that it is the SRD that determines what can be included as part of the given content on VTTs like Foundry. Unless the character builder is built with Foundry integration or export features, I suppose.

Gate Pass Gazette What is the intention of the Gate Pass Gazette?

o5e's options are downright anemic for the amount of choices you actually get to make. A "Subclass" is more or less a pregenerated character you get to decide on. Which leaves very little room for tweaking one into something you'd enjoy, so it has to be, as a whole, something you want. Also...

Level Up (A5E) Gnolls (and other evil things)

You should check out the Mwangi Expanse book for Pathfinder 2e, they have really good diverse Gnolls :D and yeah I wish LU had gone in that direction for them too

Homebrew Level Up Official Character Sheet (Color)

I figure some tables will prefer Ability and some will prefer Skill checks. If abilities, Perception is a strong contender for 'default'. If you're getting bumrushed, Perception seems the obvious choice, if it's more of a standoff waiting to see who makes the first move Dexterity could be a god...

Level Up (A5E) Relative balance of A5E vs. O5E

If you are powergaming for Big Numbers in a party that otherwise isn't, there is possibly a significant rift of what the table considers "Fun". If your idea of fun is taking away from other peoples', you should either find a different route of fun or a different table. "Other people" very much...
