I worked for a company in LA where we exclusively built these enormous crazy mansions, a lot of them for stars, other Hollywood types. The culture around Hollywood is a thing for sure ...

Yeah, I know. Though that wouldn't have worked in Hollywood, plus there is the whole titanic egos thing. Myself I prefer smaller, independent films as they have more story vs big stars, special effects extravaganza stuff. Occasionally there is good stuff though.

I like Karl Urban. The others are doing what they are paid to do, people that go to see a Rock film are going to see him, the films are just like vehicles. Similar to the difference between the two Judge Dredd films, I liked the Urban one, even if the Stallone version was more faithful to the...

It is on purpose, they aren't hired to play someone else, it's like "star power." All their signature moves, expressions, etc. like pro-wrestling.

It could have had at least one more season. It did have a solid cast of characters, and the stories were good, many of them very science fiction vs just "war in space." They tried to tackle what an alien species might be like. First three are really good, and I had others, art books. Back in...

Also it was philosophically wrong, in that trying to make the cars safer, we should have been trying to make roads safer. Most fatalities are not by the vehicle, it is driver error.

I have had a lot of fun with Space Opera, though eventually we lifted the good and left the rest behind. Similarly, I looked through the AD&D books, like DMG, startlingly badly organized, and I realized we likely had streamlined it.

Binary Success vs Multiple Levels of Success

Binary, such as two rolls, more rolls slow down the play. Adding complexity is usually a no go too.

How many years does it take for an RPG to become nostalgic, for you?

How many times do planes crash? Just once. Certainly I have nostalgia for past games, though tempered by the knowledge of why I don't go back. I don't want to bag on those games though, and for their faults, we had some great times playing them.

In real life, Dire Wolves, resurrected from the dead

As far as the article, evolution is best looked as a glacier melting on a mountain, with a thousand streams running into a lake. In the lake are the genetics, it is dynamic. One thing to remember about the mass extinctions of the recent past, is that the arrival of our ancestors into an...
