House of Dragons vs. Rings of Power (and a touch of Wheel of Time)

It also isn't really a story whose core is hope, which the books are. The show just fundamentally doesn't understand the heart of the story or it's characters on pretty much any level.

D&D General Eberron: Mark of Death

Yep, we do. Breaks canon, as has been pointed out. It's a true Dragonmark, not an abberant mark, so it has to follow the same pattern as the others. Yep, and she wants to be alive, which is why unlike Keith i think she would look like a beautiful elf teen with draconic features like rad...

House of Dragons vs. Rings of Power (and a touch of Wheel of Time)

And just like...the time spent on that could have been spent on stuff that actually happened in the books. Hell, not aging them up, not making Lan and Morraine lovers, not making the Cauthon family completely messed up, etc, would have allowed for more character development and a better season...

D&D 5E (2024) Avenger of The Silver Flame build

Okay so o have a character concept that is a changeling scribe and clergy of the Silver Flame. They’re also a divine assassin of sorts, blessed by the Flame to kill supernatural evils. Right now the mechanical concept is a Paladin/Warlock, no armor, dual wielding daggers because they’re easy to...

D&D General Eberron: Mark of Death

So one of the fun “missing thirteenth piece of a bakers dozen” things in Eberron is the Mark of Death. No one even knows what it did when it existed, and now it’s gone. But the Dragonmarks are part of the Draconic Prophesy, and so perhaps the Mark of Death will return. If so, what will that...

House of Dragons vs. Rings of Power (and a touch of Wheel of Time)

Yeah I wasn’t expecting super faithful, for sure. So much was watered down as if the audience is stupid, and then stuff like changing the whole vibe of key characters, etc. I’m all for making all 6 taverin (sp?), but some changes were just lame and boring like changing the swords (which have a...

House of Dragons vs. Rings of Power (and a touch of Wheel of Time)

The only good things I can say about the show are the cast, sets, and costumes. None of it looks remotely cheap, and this from someone who despises the show and will never give money to its show runner ever again due to how dreadfully and egregiously he took a steaming dump on the source...

D&D General Reification versus ludification in 5E/6E

Nope. Your exaggerated desire for balance will never nerf the fun out of the game, sorry. And again, as many times as it takes, the goal of making the caster choose between damage and utility could trivially have been accomplished with a set of stat blocks that each have a different...

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

I’d design the greater mark feats to simply give you 1/LR of the higher level spells on the “spells of the mark” list, like in 3.5 (and I rarely want anything to be more like 3.5). I think that the bloodline aspect makes sense, exactly because megacorps are full of nepotism and exclusion in...

Unearthed Arcana Best use for Cartographer's maps?

Just being able to cast scatter or any other “teleport another creature” spell on your party members that you can’t see because they got devoured or whatever. Makes getting swallowed much less scary.

D&D General Reification versus ludification in 5E/6E

Oh good grief Yeah, definitely not going to ever be on anything like the same page. The spell did vastly more than deal damage, and casters aren’t so powerful that they need every possible nerf regardless of what is being nerfed.

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

I’d prefer greater drsgonmark to give you free casting of higher level spells associated with the mark. Otherwise I like it all.

Who’s your vote for the next James Bond?

Idk his first role in Skins showed a smug a-hole of very high intelligence and charm, without ever seeming creepy.

D&D General Reification versus ludification in 5E/6E

The spell doesn’t do much of what it did before. So your second statement is completely false outside your own personal table, at most. And again, the goal of avoiding players flipping through the books for the perfect monster and rounds slowing down could have been accomplished without needing...

D&D General Reification versus ludification in 5E/6E

Plenty was lost. I won’t repeat myself, since I already enumerated some of what was lost, but more was lost than gained. Better to just excise the spell than lobotomize it like they did.

Who’s your vote for the next James Bond?

He is extremely good at playing a bordering-on-psychotic-in-charming-way a-hole. Like one of the best.

D&D General Reification versus ludification in 5E/6E

Nah, this is wrong. You can’t summon a flying beast to take soemthing to an ally, or a swarm of little critters to eat through a wooden wall or (as someone said) a constrictor snake to bind someone, or anything else. It’s a damage zone spell now, which is lame and boring and doesn’t do what...

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I laugh a lot (internally) while reading that. Mearls is still a joke, I see. I see all kinds of energy and excitement for the new core books, and they’re selling like crazy. Meanwhile people are still making 3pp 5e stuff….like a lot. And YouTube and other online creator spaces are...
