D&D General An At-Will Warlock, Warlock’s Curse, and an Idiosyncratic Recharge Idea

Yes. 100%. The 4e Warlock was so good for this. Yeah with a curated enough list it can work. And rituals. I don’t care how attached some are to the idea that the Warlock is basically Spawn where 100% the power is directly from the Patron and the warlock doesn’t know anything on their own, to...

Daggerheart Releases Another Round of Playtesting, Including Two New Classes

Which is it in whichever style guide they go by, I wonder?

Good point. I’m also not sure. What would you give them instead?

D&D 5E (2014) Ungodly Heaths (Dark Sun spiritual successor)

Wild ideas. I like the general gist. I know you love a crossover, but I think a spiritual successor to Dark Sun needs a little more isolation, don’t you? I’d go so far as to say, a solid Dark Sun -like should use the classes from the 5e port of The One Ring, but if you defile you can use...

    D&D General Unseen servant drums

Hell I’d let ya teach it. Cast the spell with a slot and I let a caster choose a tool proficiency, and give advantage by taking the help action with utility and leisure tasks that fit that proficiency. Of course I think RAW a performer has advantage if they make a performance with a magical...

D&D General An At-Will Warlock, Warlock’s Curse, and an Idiosyncratic Recharge Idea

I really wish D&D supported Something like an altered enhanced state that you only get back by defeating enemies or doing some other thing. But it’s a bit like the hexblade’s “kill a guy and get a wraith” or various attempts at a class that builds up momentum in order to do their special move...

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

@Umbran @Ruin Explorer @John Dallman Here’s the new version of the idea. During play you mark Experience one at a time, which can be used to buy minor or major traits. Minor traits cost 1, major traits cost 3. Skill Ranks are major traits, because they effectively count for 3 specialty...

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

Had a whole post with lots of working through thoughts. It disappeared. Ugh.

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

Perhaps, but also still not what I want. Not sure what you mean. Advancement isnt “you did the thing now tick the box of that specific trait” it’s “you did the thing, now mark an advancement and when you next rest you can spend that advancement to gain the trait you’re trying to train in.”...

    (Netflix) K-POP DEMON HUNTERS

And it with the intentionally derpy tiger is a traditional style of depiction often used by peasant artists to satirize the upper class.

Daggerheart Releases Another Round of Playtesting, Including Two New Classes

I didn’t post about the poisoner so that isn’t me, but yeah tbh they need subclasses to be able to add a domain. For the rest of the class midnight and bone would be perfect.

    D&D 5E (2024) Solasta 2 and the 1/2 elf

It isn’t bending the rules. Nothing replaced them, so mechanically they are still a legal RAW option. Not allowing them is bending the rules.

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

The only things that scale based on level are gaining 1 attribute point per level, and the limit of how many total Rank Dice you can have in one specialty at a given level. Ie, at level 2 you can’t have more than 3. The other thing is that there are milestone levels where certain things unlock.

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

Thanks! So, to clarify. Advancements are generally health with during a Rest, not during a normal scene. The only times it could interrupt play are; Total Successes - in this case, you will usually get multiple total successes per session, and you can only mark so many advancements for it...

I did, yeah. I really hope that they get a decent amount of similar advice, because the class could be amazing.

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

I’m partly curious how folks feel about the idea of using levels as descriptive tools for balance and challenge design in a system with incremental advancement.

Daggerheart Releases Another Round of Playtesting, Including Two New Classes

In no order Be capable of spike damage Feel like you’re setting up the damage spike by hunting the target, without making you have a totally different gameplay from other PCs (stuff like stacking damage bonuses for stealth, taking a moment to study a target, attacking a vulnerable target, etc)...

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

Okay my game Crossroads (I’ve formally discussed it as Quest For Chevar) has always had incremental advancement and used levels to describe rather than prescribe power, and to balance challenges. But I’m tired of tracking xp or character points. Previously you’d get 5 xp per session, 1-5 per...
